I’ve been working on a 1k list I was thinking (a little off as it’s based on power). Look any good?

HQ
- Dominus (Warlord, WT: Divinations of the Magos)
- Enginseer (Relic: Audecadamatronians Of Arkham Asylum)

TROOPS
- 10x Rangers (3x Arquebuses, Omnispex)
- 10x Vanguard (3x Plasma, Omnispex)
- 10x Vanguard (3x Arc Rifles, Omnispex)

FAST ATTACK
- 10x Sterylizors
- 3x Dragoons (Lances, Pistols)

HEAVY SUPPORT
- Dunecrawler (Neutron Laser)

My main opponents are DG, Tyranids, Necrons and Dark Angels. We’re doing narrative mostly so I’m more curious if it can just keep up with them and not get slaughtered. I imagine the Dragoons will be fairly useless against the DG though.

Thanks

Hard to tell, but Skitarii are, in my experience, pretty trash right now. The damage creep has made them so fragile that they're not worth their cost anymore - I wouldn't be surprised if you lose a squad almost instantly. First through fire, then through morale when you dip below 5 through said fire.

10 Sterylizors have a MASSIVE Footprint and will need to be deployed and moved very carefully. You need to have 2 models in coherency with 10 and the wings make that really difficult I'd assume - same with deepstriking them in to get the flamers to do work.

Dragoons are currently also in a pretty rough spot. Taking away their exploding 4's hit them very hard and they didn't recover from that.

I'd have to agree with Thairne on this one. Especially on the issue with the Dragoons, seeing as you'll be looking to keep their MWs hitting due to their weapons being generally weaker this time around. Though that's with the Radium Jezzail and just looking at the weapon again, the lack of AP is going to screw you over against most targets in general.

I do like the Sterylizors though, but you'll need to stack your deck in terms of making sure that they survive to keep fighting. Because they rarely have the ability to fly off once again, after they initially kill something.

Also, your Dunecrawler has a nice addition to it with the neutron laser, that is unless they've corrected the wording of the rule. Because RAW had it to where the laser came with a heavy stubber, which was apparently mounted underneath the laser. So that still allowed for you to pay for the a second stubber, being pintle mounted.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?

Thanks for the replies .

Yep, I agree Dragoons are pretty bad now, I may have to replace them with Ballistarii.

I would like to try out the big flock of Sterylizors, they seem to have good potential, but I do agree they have a rather large footprint so I’ll have to see how that goes.

The Dunecrawler does still get the stubber under the gun and can have a pintle mounted one as well which is pretty nifty.

The Sterylizor's torch is your best bet for keeping them leveled against enemy gun lines. Especially with it being a 12" flamer that can hit after deep-striking.
I would suggest using Deep Sunk Talons to help with their survivability and due to their flamers being auto hits. It saves on the resources needs for re-rolls that you'd use for other units.

Though their alpha doesn't have much going for him, aside from the Taser goad.
