Hello all

I’m still new to the actual wargame part and I really want to do am imperial army that isn’t space marines. I don’t like the Cadian models so much and have always loved the death korps. But the prices for units are ridiculous on eBay and a very large portion are either out of stock on forgeworld or no longer available. Are they going to be phasing out this army? I had also read somewhere the Cadian models were likely to be replaced soon given Cadia is gone, does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

To answer your first question, sadly yes, it does seem Forgeworld is slowly phasing out the death korps and pivoting from providing supplemental expensive models for 40k to providing supplemental models for specialist games.

The bright side is, because the demand is there, there are a lot of 3d printing and 3rd party models that are, let's say, trenchcoat and gasmask wearing space soldiers with pointy hats, if you're not plyaing somewhere that's a hyper-stickler for official gw sculpts.

I do think speculation on cadian models is mostly going to be based on them being extremely old. There have been a couple images on the rumor engine recently that *could* be guard stuff, maybe? But ther'es no way to know.

Yeah I saw the most recent rumor engine might be a guard medic. It’s a shame the death korps units are so good looking but I don’t want to buy in if they’re unlikely to stay. As far as the printing goes. I have models for a lot of them and printers. Just trying to do this by the book lol appreciate the reply. Maybe we’ll see some new guard models come in the regular 40K world.

You do realize that if you do buy DK, & FW eventually phases them out, that they'll STILL be Imperial Guard (or Astra whatevertheF. they're called now).
It's cheaper to buy what FW has in stock now for them than wait until they're completely gone & EBay them (assuming you've qualms about just printing them yourself).
