Hello, I'm taking this list to my very first tournament. I've done a series of blogs, published on the tournament organiser's website, about my preparations, and how it is, coming back into the game after last playing in 2nd ed. This is very much a 2nd ed marine army, and the rationale can be found in the latest blog post Taking Pride in Power Armour - please check it out.

Broken Skulls Chapter, a successor chapter of unkown origin.

While I welcome comments on the list, it's locked in for this tourney, at least. However I am not far off having a mixed company of first born painted, and have plenty of options for the future. I know it's not very competative, at all, but it's simple, uses one rulebook, and is fun and thematic and ideal for me as I'm getting back into the game. If I win 1 in 5 I'll be ecstatic, but I'll have a good time whatever happens.

Needs no rationale, Trueborn forever!

Fair enough not going to be competetive, but if you were looking in that direction I'd recommend Devastators and swapping your Heavy Bolters to Grav Cannons, Multimeltas, possibly Plasma Cannons, just something that hits harder. Also, got any Attack Bikes? They're mean these days with the Multimelta.

Cheers, yeah, I have devs with different HW (no melta) and an attack bike squad with multi-melta. I was surprisesd to hear on some podcasts that stuff is good right now.

6th tank in the photo, the razorback, is not listed. Is it actually in, as the transport for the vets?

Also, no captain?

I'd split scouts into two squads, they'd be much more useful in 2x min squads.

He can split them if he wants. Or keep them together.

Q is is loss of extra sergeant worth the loss of flexibility in case 10 would be better.

And does he have painted spare scout sergeant

Thanks! forgot the razorback! it's in there and paid for, edited

Yeah i'll split the scouts if needed. I prefer to have the option of a 10 man.

No cappo 'cos points, it was him on a bike or the chaplain, went with chaplain.

Chaplain's also good .

I constantly forget that SM units can split up, I play SW and they never had that option.

I also play SW. I also forget that rule.

Good luck on the tournament. Look out for multiple damage 2 weapons. Those really wrecked me when I spammed marines. They just died in droves because I did not play around the range. (it was orks with loota weaons. Exoshrines can also do it.)

I like the two whirldwinds. First it is a classic look. Secondly you can threaten small units on objectives making them commit more. Secondly, if they do commit more you can ignore objective holders and soften up targets so that your marines can clear through them. Also remember that sweet sweet stratagem that makes something fightast if shot by a whirlwind.

Good luck.

Oh I didn't notice before that the Whirlwinds are the classic model. That's super cool!

Thanks for the tips Nilai. In every list i wrote the whirlwinds were first on the sheet - you are right Insectum, the models are great, big metal rockets and you can see the gunner - mainly because i thought they would be easy to use for a beginner, not having to worry about LOS. Also st6 and get the +1 to hit from the landspeeder so goes through t3 on 2+ 2+
