Alright, trying to make some sense of this here as it seems a bit nutty, though of course with it being Narrative that's to be expected.

Basically, the Maggotkin have a rule for Path to Glory where non-Hero daemon units are not included on the unit roster for Path to Glory and instead when you choose to play a game you basically can pick up to X daemon units based on the number of characters.

So, the question is... how bizarre can this end up?

Can you literally end up at 600 points taking a Roster that is essentially nothing more than characters? It seems you can.

Just wanting to make sure this is the case though - as it seems odd that for most armies they'd take an army Roster, field x units from that roster to make their points value for the game (possibly even the whole roster if starting out) whereas Nurgle may literally have a case where they straight up just can't do that and even starting out have to take a few characters and make their army up from there in daemons.

It's interesting that the daemon units won't scale with advancements and yet the characters may advance far quicker than other armies due to being the only things eligible to gain XP.

Now only a CSM player.

All the mortal units are added to the roster normally; it is just plaguebearers, nurglings, drones, and beasts which are affected. Which is fine, because they can die repeatedly without needing to worry about casualty rolls.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
