So the dataslate and some FAQs just came out as we all know and I don't even want to talk about faction balance in this thread, but there is something I just do not understand: Games Workshop is a multi billion dollar company that managed to pull some impressive numbers during the pandemic especially. How is it possible that a company like that constantly releases physical books and now more frequently also digital rule updates, which are absolutely riddled with mistakes? The FAQs speak for themselves regarding oversights, but with physical books the translations are especially bad. I have seen multiple 9th codices in german which had some hilarious oversights, like admech electropriests still being able to get a 3+ invuln for example.

Their rules writing team just absolutely has to be understaffed, overworked and underpaid. And I don't blame the poor schmucks who had to write this stuff, probably on short notice with gak pay. But Games Workshop is not anymore a small company that sells miniatures, it's honestly kind of embarrasing. Don't get me wrong, I think the dataslate in principle is a good thing and I appreciate that they finally give out these rule updates for free, but how is it possible that they apparently can't manage to put enough people to the task? I mean can that even be a budgetary issue?

Or maybe they allow everyone on staff to make updates via dataslate...

Hey random cleaner at GW, how about allowing FSE to take monats as Troop choices again...

Because people still buy mediocrity.
Why don't they care more? Because people buy it any way. Same things going on in the video game industry, game are released with crazy amounts of bugs and poor optimization, but people keep buying them so why bother trying harder?

Even though GW books are poorly written people still buy them.

To many unpainted models to count.

I don't know about the German language copies but the English language ones have very few errata. Sure there are FAQs but that seems inevitable given the complexity of the game. If you do want to talk about balance then there are still some improvements to be made both in the pre release rules and those updates after release.

Because GW don't care. It's a token gesture to make it look like they do as part of their PR since 8th. Same reason they're making sculpts based on older art. It wins them grognard points and keeps them playing the game. The state of things isn't that much different from pre-8th, it's just that GW learned how to do the bare minimum. They're still basically Saddam from South Park: The Movie.
