I've noticed there is virtually no activity here in the AMG thread. Are there any X-wing and/or Armada players still around here? I only play campaigns with friends (ie:HotAC or custom Correlian Conflict) and would love some outside input on some custom cards/missions/etc... I am in the reddit groups and the HotAC FB page but just figured I'd ask if there are any folks still around here.

I think theres plenty of players, we just don't post about the games here often because its a fairly small community in what is otherwise mainly a 40k board.

I have my stuff but haven't really been following for a while. X-Wing locally has always kind of been focused in a store that was harder to get to regularly and I didn't really transition over to 2.0. Curious about the game as it remains one of my favorites; just not one I ever really enjoyed the tournament grind for so a bit hard to follow.

I figured. I play both 40K and Star Wars so I'm here already. I was just looking to get some more activity going here. I miss the old FFG forums.

I agree on the comptative grind, it's the main reason my friends and I only play campaign. Are you familier with HotAC? It's a great option even for solo play.

Yeah, its a neat system. I mostly really enjoy Epic as a 2v2 game, but I play a LOT of different systems so its mostly an issue of other games being a priority right now.

I'm an off-and-on Armada/Xwing/Legion player. I really like the game systems, I really hate playing with the meta-chasers and their eight ship swarm lists (X-wing)/SSDs (Armada), and I'm looking forward to a time when the AMG dev team has had a chance to break all three games down more thoroughly and put them back together.

That's one of the main reason my group of friends only plays campaigns nowadays.Especially with X-wing we prefer the co-op game play of HotAC. For Armada we have added a lot from legends (Rebel ISD's but you must have a title, Imperial Neb'B's, etc...). We are all from the older EU days, so we enjoy bringing that kind of stuff back in.

Would anyone be interested if I start a thread posting the extra ship cards I'm created?

Me and my lad played X-Wing v1 more than any other game. We have multiples of nearly every ship all the way through v1. There's even a few pics from back in the day on my blog
When v2 hit, I bought the upgrade sets, even for the Epic ships. However we never played.

I've bought a few v2 ships to keep up to date a little, but we've not played.

Anyway, today I received my ST-70 Mandalorian ship and we decided we'd have a game. Finding out that there's no points for ships, or even a way to see what upgrade cards are allowed. I downloaded the offical app to see and that had no ST-70 ship on it at all. The FFG website had points cost documents from over half a year ago and no Mandalorian ship.

I feel I've got a load of X-Wing stuff now that is utterly useless.

Not got a clue how to play as I don't even know what upgrade cards my ships can have, never mind any points costs.

Has X-Wing died off totally with the ships just being shovelled out for hard core collectors?

Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

They abandoned the official app..
FFG is no longer the producer of the game and the old point sheet is obsolete…

AMG is the new producer and the point list is on thier site… but it’s easier to just download a third party squad builder like YASB.

Thanks. As is typical, I found a link just after I'd posted.
Seems far less friendly to newcomers now than when I started. My lad and I bought a v1 starter and could play instantly. Extra ships had everything you needed. I take it the popularity of X-wing has dropped off. :-(

Popularity did drop off in 2.0, but that was largely in reaction to the conversion kits required to get 2.0 content. 2.0 has been solid and overall a better game experience than 1.0. 2.0 is not perfect and one of the on-going issues is access to 1.0 ships that haven't been reprinted in 2.0 yet. The latest round of changes is not the result of any problems with 2.0, rather they are the result of Asmodee reorganizing itself prior to sale to a big swedish company. They handed the keys to X-wing to a group that has only done one superhero game, Marvel Crisis Protocol. And now we have superhero X-wing.

I think the bigger issue than the conversion kits was just the complete lack of new content in 2.0. Years repackaging old product meant people didn't have a hype new ship they needed to switch to 2.0 to play.

Overall 2.0 just needed to happen a year or two earlier. Had say, the Ghost been its flagship ship, it would have been a MUCH smoother transition to what I agree is largely a big improvement.

I think much of the X-wing chatter moved to discord on the various podcast servers. BGG was talked about as the new home of the old FFG forum crowd, but I don't see that when I look there.

I have quite a bit of Armada stuff, mostly Rebel and Imperial fleets. I had hoped to kickstart interest in my area, but nothing happened. And now my stuff sits on my dresser, not collecting dust, only because they're all in drawers.

Anyone in Central NY interested in a collection?

Your experience is exactly the problem I have with AMG's (and by extension, Asmodee's) approach to X-Wing. They abandon the app but have no way to tell players what's happening. It's even worse because they mention the app in the Quick Start booklet in the box. There's nothing on FFG's website pointing people to AMG for the new material and AMG's website is so shockingly bad you can't even tell there's any SW content on it unless you know where to click on their homepage.

Even more bizarrely, FFG used to release the points on PDFs as well as the apps but they had the common sense to break down the PDFs by faction for ease of reading. AMG give you one PDF of almost 30 pages to scroll through, assuming you can find it. They've also dropped the official app at the same time they make squad building way more complicated and confusing because now there are two values you need to track for each ship and, worse still, the available upgrade slots are seemingly completely random.

If the plan is to bring new players into the game they're going about it in the worst possible way.

The main problem they have is their website was never designed to accommodate anything other than MCP. Their website is mostly designed like a blog. They have the ability to update the content of the page but really don't have a way to change the structure without paying for web development time. Apparently that's in the works and hopefully that means they've got a design that will support Star Wars better, but at the moment it looks as jammed where they could get it to fit as much as it probably was.
