Help with a 1000 point list.
Hello Brothers, I've been out of the hobby since 8th edition so I'm really not sure what I should be looking at for a 9th edition list.

I currently own:

Trajann Valorus

3x Custodians with Spears

3x Custodians with Sword and Shield

4x Bikes (one of which has been kitbashed for use as a Captain on Bike).

1x Standard Bearer

2x boxes of unassembled Sisters of Silence.

1x Grav Tank

I would really love any pointers.

Caladius Grav-tank: Twin Iliastus Accelerator Cannon

And add to that as you see fit (bikes are currently the unit to go for, so a 2nd unit of 3 bikes is your best choice) and then mayhaps add a 3rd HQ in the form of an Allarus Shield Captain + some terminators.

I don't get the last part because after the Caladius Grav-tank I am already at 1000 points?

Hmmm my friend has a Tau drone spam army, how do I kill the drones as Adeptus Custodes?

you cant target the drones anymore as they are part of the units, so you have to just shoot em and hope they fail saves.

Doesn't that make them overpowered? How do I fight them as Custodes?

Its annoying, but its not OP. You might not be able to target the drones individually anymore, but they also can only use the drones they purchase with the squad to protect models in the squad.

The crisis squads with 6 drones are annoying for sure, but they arent invincible, and we can bring them down. Might take 3 turns though.

This is one of the downsides of taking an "elite" army (high points per model) You're going to have fewer attacks in the shooting and fight phase because you have fewer models. Most of the "horde" (low points per model) will get more both because of the natural curve that comes from more models and from multipliers like chainswords, choppas and the like. You have to make maximum use of your fewer models. Shoot, Charge, Fight, Fallback, Shoot, Charge, Fight shenanigans, or double shoot hijinks and the like. Most elite armies do well in all/most phases so you need to get use of your guys in all the phases you can.

Wait so my friend who is using his drones to protect all his units can't just do that right? After I killed his drones of his fire dudes he uses other drones from other squads but thats not allowed right?

It used to be a thing Tau could do.

Now, Drones are just part of a unit, and take hits like any other model does.
