I don't know what was the profile of Imperial Guard Hellhound in 3rd-4th edition. Can somebody remember?

Interesting changes. I have most (all?) of the 3rd ed codexes on the shelf, but not the 3.5s or later codexes for most armies. I should have specified the profile was from the 3.0 book.

I try not to think about it too hard. I’ve got minis older then many of my opponents.

We’ve also crossed another edition reset, and did so a while ago. RT and 2nd were “retro” for all of 3rd-7th. They were still 40k in spirit, but a significant disconnect in rules. 3-7 were more iterative changes. But 8th was another paradigm reboot, and that was last edition and 9th is even getting a little long in the tooth. There are people playing, for more than an edition, who never had to deal with things like initiative and armor facings.

I do take a little offense to calling out boomers in the OP. While there might be a few who play 40k, the old guard is probably more Gen-X. Boomers are my parents.

I mean 4th ed came out back in 2004. Thats coming up on 2 decades old in another 2 years. so.
3rd ed was back in 1998.

I’ll second this. Considering the accepted cutoff from boomers to Gen. X is 1965 the majority of 40K was written and designed by Gen-X not boomers. (Rick Priestly and Jervis Johnson were born 1959, but I think everyone else of note involved in writing 40K was born after 1965.)

Wait until your kids are in their 40's...and you have models older than your opponent.

I met up with a gaming buddy for a beer and in our conversation discovered I started playing W40K the year he was born. I started playing in 2nd edition ~1994.

My original WD list era Necrons (Warriors/Immortals/Lord/Scarabs/3 Destroyers) have been legal drinking age longer than several of the guys working at the local shop.
And some of my WHFB/Sigmar Dwarves are at least double thier ages.

Oh yeah I've definitely used models years older than some opponents. I've been thinking recently of starting a P&M blog called "Models old enough to drink". I've got a few models almost old enough to run for president.

I'd 100% call 3rd and 4th retro. Thats probably when Gamesworkshop exploded in size. I remember events going from 100~ player tournaments to 200-300 at this time during 4th and 5th. Middle school aged back then for me
