I'm thinking of making Dawnbreaker Cohort models for the Horus Heresy. But they're out of stock in the US.
So, I was gonna use Sanguinary Guard models, but they need spears to equip themselves properly.

I've no experience with 3D printing, but I have a friend and a local library that both have access to a 3D printer. How hard would 40k-sized spears be, and where would be a good place to find the STLs for them?

Thanks in advance for help.

You should be able to find all kinds of bladed weapons on Thingiverse that you could use for the end. I would then Recommend getting some brass wire to act as the spear shafts. Printing something as thin as a spear shaft I think would be frustrating, and they would always be brittle. If you model a round hole in the blade end then flying them on should be a easy amd secure.

Also for something like this you would be looking for a resin printer rather than a filament printer.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

What sorts of wire do you use, or would you recommend?

This is a not a new thing and probably worth an hour or so research online. A bit of light googling suggests around 1mm thick brass rod, florist wire or piano wire does the trick. There are also vendors that sell pre-formed spears between 50mm and 100mm in length that you can cut to size.
