Hey all,

Looking to make a small scale HH army (HQ, couple of troops and an elite unit or two) and I have the limited edition Praetor Tribune in Tartaros armour still BNIB that I would like to base it around. As such I'd like to use a legion that makes sense for using more Tartaros Armour/has their special units in Tartaros than Cataphractii armour.

From the quick trawl that I have done so far I can see that Emperor's Children, White Scars, Night Lords and Death Guard have all got Tartaros special units, and Raven Guard also seem to make sense for a more manoeuvrable type of terminator. I am wondering how these legions hold up in the new edition of HH or if there is another legion I should be considering? I know in theory all legions can take them, but I'd quite like for it to feel fitting with the legion's character as well.

Thoughts welcome!

For zone mortalis or just smaller games on like a 4x4 board?

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

You pretty much answered your own question. All the legions listed would enjoy tartaros, although I'd say death guard more fit cataphracttii overall, despite the deathshroud being in tartaros.

At the end of the day though, pick the legion you like the most and then build the story around your dudes. If you particularly like dark angels for example then you could create a dark angel strike force equipped with tartaros armour and make a story around that.

The game is designed so all the legions can use everything, and there's a lot of marines in every legion, so there's space for "your dudes" to have what you want in there.

If you do like the entire of theming your force around terminators, you could look at the pride of the legion rite of war that allows you to take some terminators as troops. You could this let by a delagatus (since you said you wanted to theme for smaller games) or a praetor who is leading a tartaros armed terminator assault with some supporting units into a hotly contested area.

A little bit of both, but mostly as a painting/modelling project. I don't get to play much these days, but when I do it is usually small scale games. Probably looking at something in the region of 1,000pts max for my average game.

A really fun rite of war especially for small games is the sagyr mazan for white scars. Its themed around the outcasts of the legion who tried to join the traitors during the prospero incident and are now atoning for their sins through acting as suicide troops. You can take ebon keshig (tartaros terminators) as troops, and all your infantry get the kharash rule while gives them feel no pain 5+ and don't give away kill points when they die, so they can charge wrecklessly into combat with their move 8 terminator armour!

I feel like deathguard/night lords have some great modelling/conversion opportunities but I'm biased cuz I like both their paint schemes. Night lords you could maybe convert some terror marines.

The White Scars one should be hilarious since none of your army will give victory points for dying. Downside is they have to footslog.

It sounds like a brilliant, thematic army.
Actually on the right board (ZM or terrain dense) it could be a proper bastard to deal with.

You know, I just might do that myself. Already building Chogorian Brotherhood but no reason why I couldn't print off 50 tarts and just absolutely tilt some cheesemonger in a kill point game.

I played it the other day in a 2v2 blood feud with my all infantry white scars. It was marvellous.

It's my main rite of war at the moment but I have a gentlemans agreement that we reroll blood feud since I can't give away any VPs in it ?

To troll someone who's very keen on winning though (a rarity in heresy) it would be hilarious

Honestly probably T sons.
You can either make them Raptora to get them to a 4++ or if you want memes, make them pavoni and enjoy 14" moving terminators.

To many unpainted models to count.
