I have a good budget phone, nord n200. The cpu and Ram are just adequate, the camera is weak, the ecreen in beautiful and I don't use it for much more than a phone. I don't take pix much, I don't do a lot of surfing on it, I get notifications and use it as a mp3 player mostly. No gaming on it but I have a dice app on it just in case. I have navigated with it occasionally. I use it as an slarm or timer a lot too.

I don't need of want a phone that's like 500-1000 or more, those just seem wasteful and pointless to me in most cases. Also some "high end" phones lack some things my budget phone has, like a magnetic compass, micro SD card, earphone Jack, etc.

Just curious what other gamers use as comm links.

Currently I use a TracFone Carrier-Locked Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown 4G LTE.
I had to check Amazon. I use a pre paid service and they dropped the 3G network so I had to get a new phone a few years back. This has been excellent. It has a good camera and most of the bells and whistles all the other smart phones have.

Aside from calls/texts I hardly use it online except when waiting at appointments occasionally I'll use it to read stuff, like stories posted to reddit. I'm not really a fan of using a phone for my usual web surfing I much prefer the desktop for that.
Other than that I use it for an mp3 player and have packed an sd card with music.
I have a pare of headphones that are blue tooth and, not sure what brand they are but they're ear protection + headphones. Which is why I got them. Helps when running the machinery or shooting and I don't miss calls that way. I'd say my phone is 90% of the time just for music.
The only reason I ever got a smartphone was for access to online maps as there was an accident which created a detour pushing traffic off into some place I had no idea how to get out of. A map would have smoothed that out easily.

The camera is reasonably good and shoots in up to 1080P. Which was another big selling point.

I think the only app I might look for would be a voice recorder as my old phone had that packaged in and his one dose not. I use to take notes or rant on my walks many years ago now. I have hours of such nonsense which I find humorous. Topics ranged from rants bout why I dislike spikybitz to the current upcoming calamity or what ever was on my mind.

I use a dumbphone exclusively. Not exactly a luddite however as I do my www stuffs with an M1 iPad.

I have two. One is an old Sammy S7, that I bought the entire Dragon Quest series on, and still use that for my handheld games, I gave up the data plan though. My phone for calling people and work is an iPhone Something. I forget, like 2-3 gens back. 10? 11? I have no idea. I use it mostly for looking at weird inappropriate gak while in staff meetings, and cat photos.

I use it for everything it's capable of. Even actual phone calls!

My Samsung Galaxy S7 died early in 2020, so I got a Samsung A41.
I use my phone for:
Alarm,
Wifi detection and testing for work,
Social Media and app chats,
Photos for work (for documentation), and of games and models,
Gaming apps and publications (both WH apps and Battlescribe)
[Oh yeah, satnav and in-car 'CD' player]

The Wifi card in the A41 was not up to the spec I need, so I got the smaller S21. Everything about it better than the A41, but it should be, for the difference in price.

Cheapo Sony thing. It does internet, and is pretty slow. But as I mainly have it for having one’s convenience and WhatsApp, it does the job quite nicely.

Oneplus 9.

Basically has replaced computer for me except for slicing 3d models and work.

I have a galaxy s9, use it for socials, web browsing and various wargaming apps. Essential when driving due to Android auto in my car, but any android phone can do that.

Dropped it a couple of times, and it's slow and a bit unstable.

Not all Androids, as the car forums and groups will say.
But most modern versions of Android, yep, essential.

My personal is a Google Pixel 2XL. I mostly use it as an alarm clock, to doomscroll on social media, and to watch porn.

My work phone is an iPhone 12. I barely use it at all.
