Hey, so wee question I'm.struggling with.

I have a space marine project - Minotaurs specifically. Basecoat of bronze and drybrushed runelord brass, washes with agrax. Accents are p3 greatcoat grey for pouches and undersuit, and skorne red for shoulders. All is well.

My issue is I have a handful of old metal scouts I found that I'd like to add. And for me, gold chest, red shoulders on scouts just doesnt quite work with the fatigues and greater amount of skin on show. Ot just looks a bit tacky.

I'm therefore looking for alternative approaches for my scouts. So colour experts I submit to you- what would you suggest i do? Swap round the primary colour? Go camo/stealth? Or js the bronze workable but with different 'accents'?

Thanks!

You could go full camo and just avoid the issue. It’s what I did with my scouts. Keep things like pouches, guns, etc. the same as the rest of the force to help keep things. Coherent.

Alternatively, go with desaturated non metalic more natural versions of your primary colors. So replace the brass with a beige, and the red with a more natural rust-brown. So not the full chapter scheme, but hitting similar notes.

Codex-approved night world camouflage AKA dark grey.

What I did with my Dark Angel scouts was drop my secondary colour (cream/bone) that would have went on the chest aquila and then changed the normally brighter metallic parts to a much more muted metal. Like you I also used a dark grey for the fatigues.

In your position I would drop one of the colours (drop red if you want to tie them in with the rest of of your force, drop gold if you want to make them stand apart a bit more.) and let the skin and other metallic objects be your accents.

Red armour with grey fabric would work. They will look good and having to earn the bronze looks right since its metallic. If you want to shine you need to earn it

I like this line of thinking. I do like the idea of dropping the metallic more than the other colours. The contrast between scout and full fledged marine is also appealing. Or else just have a tiny bit of bronze as a token gesture.

For my Raptors I actually filed off the aquilla.

Hehe I like this! Thanks!

I'll put together a dood and see how he looks!

Maybe green for the fatigues and webbing.
