I was doing some closet cleaning and found a box of random bits and remembered where I had gotten them. It was years back when Games Workshop was still mostly metal parts and the United States warehouse had a major accident where a bunch of shelves had collapsed. They were selling it by weight and wasn't usual to find floor scrapings in your box. It looks like they were just sweeping it up and putting it in boxes and shipping it out. That's how I ended up with 17 left metal Eldar dreadnought legs. Don't remember major details but just knew it seemed like a mess on their side.

Can anyone else think of weird hobby happenings that make you wonder what really happened?

The great bitz collapse of 2002 or so was certainly an odd one. Me and some buddies went in for the 10 bag package and planned a mini tournament to divy up the loot and...

It was Warmaster. All Warmaster. All Warmaster tomb kings too, so you couldn't even make 2 forces out of it.

The wound is still fresh!

On the plus side one of the (many) times Warzone/Mutant Chronicles collapsed my local shop sold off blisters for like a dollar. I made a whole Elysian army out of them.

Is... is the wound that you could have bought a house from 10 bags of Warmaster Tomb Kings had you kept them?

The oddest thing I've had happen to me was making a humongous bits order for the entire play group as there was free shipping and a discount going at the time for larger orders. I want to say it was well over $600 in bits (Metal and plastic sprues, 2002 era). The box never arrived so we contacted GW about it. They sent us a replacement that included everything we ordered, and a LOT of extras. A whole Eldar Viper, old metal Wave serpent upgrades, a dozen Fantasy cold-one lizards (no riders though), a few sprues of fantasy Orks that were easy enough to put 40k arms on, some chaos vehicle upgrade sprues, and pages of transfer sheets. I'm guessing whoever was repackaging this just swept up whatever was left on a desk to fill the box.
