Putting together a Waste army for Monsterpocalypse. Got plans for a whole set of themed buildings and such. Starting it off simple and painting up my Toxxos grunts first. Hit them with a coat of white primer and a Blood Red Contrast base, then painted their barrels a radioactive waste yellow. Need to pick out all the bits of stone rubble sticking in them and then weather those and the barrels up next to finish them off.

Painted the rocks grey, two sepia washes on the barrels, a light black wash on the rocks and barrels, sprayed satin, touched up the rocks with a matte Stormshield coat to dim their shine, and glued to their bases. See how well this Gorilla Clear glue works out.

I’ll work on their two Elites tomorrow, but I need to pick up some new colors of Contrast before I can get to the others.

Got the two Elite Toxxos finished up. Want more of these Elites but only getting one of them in a pack with two other models I don’t care about is annoying. Wish PP would fully bring back their parts store and ability to order any individual unit so I could just grab several Elites at once.

Was going to paint Absorbers next, but the color I want for them was the one the flgs didn’t have. Got a bottle coming down from a different store next week, so I may skip ahead and work on the Monsters next.

Didn’t get around to gap filling the Monsters, but my missing paint color came in so I got the rest of the Units I currently have painted up. They’re not varnished yet, as the weather turned wet and cold again, so I’ll wait for more optimal conditions before I spray them. I suppose that means now I Have to work on the Monsters.

It’s a fun game with some cool models. Got a faction for pretty much every giant monster cliche from Ultraman to Godzilla to Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman.

Man, Globbicus has way more tiny rocks and details sticking to em than I’d realized. A real pain going thru and picking them all out. I’m calling it a night and will have to get the black wash on all of those tomorrow.

The mild winter has spoiled me and I look outside at the cold and snow today and just dont feel like cleaning off my car and shoveling my driveway to be able to leave the house. Does leave me with more painting time though, so my Globbicuses (Globbici?) are “done”. Like the purple Absorbers, just waiting on a better weather day to spray varnish then. Probably Wednesday looking at the forecast. Satin seal, matte touch ups on the non-goo bits, then glue them to the clear bases.

Next try to get some parts on Slingoozer resculpted today, get them painted up. Monday/Tuesday should have a few more Elite Toxxos showing up and get them painted right away. Try to have as much ready to spray during that Wednesday weather window.

Slingoozer, the Mud Man. With a higher move speed and defense making them slippier, as well as rules to hinder the opponent’s movement, I figured a good mud brown suited them just fine. I also resculpted their face and trimmed down their fingers, as I thought those details were too well defined compared to the soft melted look of the other oozes. Ready for a Wednesday sealing. Really hoping that weather forecast holds up.

Globbicus, the Absorbers, and the rest of the Elite Toxxos are all sealed shiny, rocks dulled, and set on their bases. Slingoozer isn’t here because I decided the brown was too dark next to all these bright lads so they were banished to the Simple Green to be stripped and reprimed.

Still looking to see if I can get my hands on a lone Power Pod, and also interested if anyone has any good sources of appropriately tiny cars, trucks, or other such city scatter.

Got Slingoozer’s new paint job all finished and sealed and on their base. Now just waiting on the final pack of the new slimes to get released, along with a Power Pod I’ve got in transit. In the meantime, I have Finally started working on my buildings.

Buildings have always been the weak spot in my MonPoc armies, with only a single one having ever been painted prior to now. However with my Waste the buildings are very much part of the aesthetic theme rather than purely chosen for in-game advantage. Starting off with the one that has the lowest effort basing as a proof of concept/test model for the main thing, the smoke. Clump foliage super glued to a brass rod, then soaked in spray primer. Looking good so far, will work on getting some colors on it over the next few days.

Finally sitting down and working on these again. Glueing the foliage to the brass rods required Just enough effort to kick in the ol’ executive disfunction and get me to procrastinate it for a bit there. Being between anime seasons helps though, so here they are all leafed up. Let the glue sit for a bit here, then take them outside and give them a spray of varnish on just that green stuff. Get them stable enough to go back and paint on watered down white glue.

Additionally got my hands on a Power Pod finally, to be the lone non-Faction model in my Waste army. Doesn’t mean it’s not required to look the part though so promptly carved a bit split in it and hollowed it out a bit. Lightly glued to a temporary home with the outline of a base traced on so I don’t go out of bounds.

Brief break from painting up lizards to get my last Units for my MonPoc Waste army done before the tournament this weekend. Still being super lazy about the buildings though unfortunately…
