He got kicked off the edge of Hysh (literally) to vaporize in the rampant light-magics. That said, it's Arkhan. Even characters in-universe are under no illusion that he is permanently gone.

This the Lumineth Tome mention how his spirit is floating aroudn the edge waiting for his return while the Ossiarch tome tell how his Null Myrmid legion is stockpiling Gravesand to rebuild his body
