TW: buildings in the streets

Stop putting buildings in the streets. Or start using mats without streets.

To be fair though, the only annoying thing is that there is a full-sized mat, yet you put a border on it to make it smaller. That's baffling to me.

Nevaaar! Actually, just for you I kept the buildings off the streets in my next report which should be up soon. Can't say I get the border hate though, almost everyone puts a border on at the club so I do it to keep consistency.

It makes no sense. Why make the table smaller at all?

If you've only for the weird sizes GW made up, then fair enough, but if you've got a 6x4 mat why aren't you using the whole thing?

I get the feeling that some rules are 'balanced' (insofar as anything in 40k is intentionally balanced in any way, which is still pretty haphazard) around the smaller size. From what I've seen melee armies already struggle this edition (except custodes) - adhering to the old table size (which is just as arbitrary) screws them even more. Then most people use the new smaller size, so refusing to do that at the club just to adhere to the historic size wouldn't make sense to me. That said, if someone prefers to use 6 x 4, I would do it, it's not that big of a deal.

I don't think anything is balanced around the smaller size, because the smaller size has nothing to do with gameplay and everything to do with the product dimensions of their boxes. It's the size it is because that's what fits into regular boxes. It's just as arbitrary as 6x4 was.

But even so, using the smaller size if that's what you have is fine. Taking something that's 6x4 and making it smaller makes no sense to me.
