given models have fire arcs now, ok "front" & "back", and these arcs now matter there is one rule from another game I think would be nice to bring it

"after nominating the primary target turn the firing model to face the primary target, for Titans turn to face the target carapace weapons fired at, of for Titans without such any target the arm mount weapons fired at. Models firing weapons with a 360 firing arc need not rotate"

purpose:
- things look better pointed at their target
- it allows for flanking movement drawing the target to turn if it wishes to return fire perhaps exposing its rear
- makes it a bit harder to castle up in a single point and keep the frontal armour facing forwards, or firing at a weaker unit while keeping heavy armour facing a stronger one

minor point, and its (obviously) not in the game, just think it would make the game a bit better

I get the point. It would be nice for a 15mm game, like they do for instance in FoW.

LI has too many rules. The should remove rules, not add them.

Erm, isn't the idea of sponson weapons that a vehicle doesn't need to turn to face its target? And many of the arc weapons are sponson weapons are they not?

yes and no, most have 90 degree arcs, and facing the target means both fire at it

its more a visual thing that also has tactical implications - fast stuff tries to flank you, yes you can fall back to keep both in your arc, but fire on either side and rear is exposed to the other, adds value to being mobile

As much as I like the idea, I kind of agree with this. I actually think Legions should go a step further and just have forward 180 arc for firing, and that's it. Faffing around with turret facings and firing arcs is for larger scale games, or for games when you have a handful of battleships or something and having to check and calculate fire-arcs doesn't slow down the game, because you are only having to do it a handful of times.

You have 180 arc front and rear. Simple enough already

I kind of like how they have done it, its simple, and it makes getting the jump of stuff from behind good, but not perfect - turrets rotate for a reason, but firepower is diluted to the rear. the actual bit with models firing I think is fine, this is just a method that stops someone from being able to sit with armour on their very back line and you never getting a rear shot - if it fires off to one side it turns, exposing the rear.

it actually works well in flames, its exceedingly simple to do, you have a movement phase, stuff on first fire can't fire, other stuff ends facing whatever direction.

then in firing everything, including first fire can turn to face a target thats in its arc - you nominate the target, determine what weapons are in arc to fire then rotate - the firing unit won't bring extra weapons to face this turn, but may end up facing a different direction

was just a thought to add a bit of flavour and make positioning matter a bit more as you have to cover your rear arc after you have fired

yes, it is, and this doesn't change that fact in any way, just which way you are facing after you fire
