Elden ring is old news, I should redownload it and play.

There is some cool stuff in that, probably a lot More if watching it slow.

Pretty good timing for me, I'm my 110th hour into the game and I'm about to finish it, so this will be great to jump back into once summer rolls around.

Not sure i'd call 3.5 million views in three hours old news personally.

Agreed, especially since I believe this DLC has been widely anticipated for a while and I still see Elden Ring content pop up.

I mean.... it looks incredible. It's also kind of what you'd expect if you dig deep into the post game challenge lore. Looks to take place in Miquella's memories in the immediate aftermath of the Shattering which will definitely be interesting to see how much of the prior world we can visit. New bosses look excellent. If you got lost in the original it looks like they just dug the well deeper.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I didn't ever complete the game - think I gave up after dying about 30 times on one of the bosses and realising I should do something else with my life This might prompt me to give it another go though..

Which boss? I found more than other Soulslikes this one can definitely be a question of preparation as much or more than skill. In a lot of ways its a wiki game when you hit a wall.

Yeah, with it being much more open world compared to Dark Souls, you often have other areas that you can visit that might match your actual level a bit more until you can go back to the zone. I know a lot of people making the mistake of going to Caelid too early on when they should be heading over to Liurnia. It also partly depends on your build, but you can 100% farm and collect more gear before going to different bosses, it was night and day for me when I unintentionally overlevelled from clearing a lot of the underground dungeons and it made it really easy for me to clear bosses in the Altus Plateau.

I think people also underestimate how much of a difference summons can be when you have the right ashes available. The mimic tear in particular can make some boss fights incredibly trivial.

Properly upgraded Mimic Tear can solo bosses for sure.

Weapon upgrades are also an incredibly important and easy to overlook thing to hunt down.

The expansion looks like it'll have a power scaling separate to what happens in the 'main game' somehow.

Likewise for golden seeds and sacred tears, it's actually very front-loaded in the early level areas I think precisely so you have the healing capacity to keep up with some of the tougher bosses at the beginning. You want to visit those churches, go to those golden trees and upgrade the flasks, otherwise you're gimping yourself for some fights. The flask of wondrous physick is another big equalizer since it helps you tailor against certain enemies and enhance your existing build.

Smithing stones are for sure a huge difference though, especially since most people aren't aware you can access to them through the shop once you go to certain caves where the smithing stone bells are.

Yeah. I bashed my head into Margit and finally beat him before learning about Liurnia. The game was MUCH easier once I got all the upgrades there.

There is also a bit of a difference in how health scaled, early on there was a lot of players that neglected it on the wikis.
Making bosses super tough if you just didn’t have the HP to take a few hits.
For me I went from why bosses hit so hard to all good over 4 levels into Health.
It made such a huge impact in how every boss felt.

It was definitely infuriating to see people post "skill" videos early on that couldn't be replicated because you didn't have the poise to actually block attacks or enough health to survive a failed dodge.

Especially when it involves late game talismans and talisman slots you won't have access to until you're at least halfway through the game.

I was watching a let’s player that I normally liked who had a rant about players needing to get good every second video.
Was actually really annoying since he was constantly over level for everything as he was a big completion guy.

But those early days on the wiki was lots of fun also, lots of new players wanting help with basic stuff.
Also the co-op was some of the most fun in any fromsoft game yet, running up that beach i never want to do again.

Learn to parry. Even if it sucks at first it will absolutely make the game better. Buff stacking and nuking everything is arguably faster, but it's not remotely fun IMO.
I can guarantee Mesmer will be parryable to the point you can exploit it. Aside from that, there's only a handful of bosses that you can't abuse with parry in the base game and if you can't beat those few with status effects, dodging, and Spirit Ashes you shouldn't even bother touching the DLC.

The only way we can ever solve anything is to look in the mirror and find no enemy

Are you saying those people should perhaps improve their skills, or 'get good', perchance, Trexmeyer

I have literally only just finished the original game. That was a really tough game, but thought in a lot of places it needs tenacity more than skill - it's a shame this game didn't keep a tally of player deaths as I think mine must have run into several hundred at least! That being said, it did have its moments of beauty and was extremely well made, even though I had absolutely no idea whatsoever what was going on with the storyline. It made AoS seem as comprehensible as the Hungry Catepillar by comparison.

Neither plots are difficult. Elden Ring literally tells you the plot in the intro. The game just lets you fill in details of characters and events that led up to events.
