Hello. A friend of mine plays Orks and I play custodians.

Is this match up skewered in the custodians favour? It also feels like an uphill battle for him.

I really can't tell by the picture.

What're the lists & how good is your ork playing friend?

I've never faced custodes before but I found the best way to deal with other elite armies is to swamp the board. Throw as many bodies as possible on objectives and tarpit them in the middle of the board. They can't kill everyone, right?

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Custodes are definitely a challenge for Orks to face. There's play, but Custodes very much counter the Ork gameplan and the Ork player really needs to play against their strengths to come out ahead. Focusing on objectives and feeding the custodes big monsters that will survive long enough to fight back seems to be the best answer.

Funny you would say that. Custodoes can kill everyone. (Assuming you walk into charge range.)

Tailored Orks do much better than Take-All-Comers Orks.

Most Ork shooting is 24"ish high attacks on BS5+ S4-5 low to no AP, and D1 so everything will snowball in favor of the Custodes. Lots of Shots with lots of misses, then often need 5's or higher to wound, which are then very likely to get saved or do little damage.

Battlewagons will help, the aircraft that I usually like - not so much with the flying Jetbikes able to charge. Shokk Attacks will be nice but few and far between. Rokkit Launchas will hurt Custodes, but have the short range. Mek Guns will likely hurt a bit. Especially 9 of them. But for the most part most of their weapon profiles look to still be on the Infantry=T5 Tops, Vehicles = T8 design, so they're missing that S6/7/8 Heavy Infantry area you'll see for Gravis, Custodes, and Centurions etc. They also didn't get much Anti-Infantry.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Pure theory here, but I'm wondering if Meganobz and Big Meks in mega armor might work? They have three wounds, so unless the Custodes have axes they'll tank wounds okayish. They are cheaper than custodes per model by quite a bit. When they do swing back they can deal quite a bit of damage.
