I don’t know much about AOS but I just read a Warhammer article where it is stated that the great horned rat has become a fully fledged chaos god and a pic of this big rat next to some duplications of what I believe at Khorn, Slaneesh, Nugle and Tzeench.

So do you think that this proves they are willing to add to the pantheon and therefore Vashtor will achieve his ascension to full chaos god and more over this is how they want to separate 40K and AOS as similar but separate and move further away from the old school of fantasy and sci fi mirrors of each other.

Or even crazier could the great horned rat reach through the immaterium and make an appearance in 40k

I was just wondering the same thing, mrFickle, as It would certainly be a boost for Chaos Daemons, if they remain in their own codex. At the very least players having been making some very cool Skaven-themed Chaos armies for 40K.

Only thing is that Tyranids and Gene-cults might already be considered the 40K alternative for Skaven...

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Given that slaanesh has died and been reborn in AoS I think? With a pair of specific greater daemons as their herald with no 40k rules, I suspect the wedge between sigmar and 40k daemons will grow. Vashtorr may get a bigger role if they realise it's an easy entry point to up teching daemon models and driving a fantasy/scifi aesthetic

It’s a great image. Skaven are awesome I’d love to see some show up in 40K even if it’s just some sort of rat Beastmen in necromunda that has these strange green crystals but then I always loved the ide that 40K and WFB were in the same universes

Skaven in Necromunda is a great idea. I can see House Cawdor losing their rag with them...

40k definitely needs more chaos gods. get Vashtorr in there as the 5th, but i think chaos would also be greatly improved by introducing more minor chaos gods, like warcry has flirted with

But then would we lose him as a playable character? I suppose the model could be his avatar or greater demon

Given how much they hyped the "Dark King" as the potential 5th chaos god that the Emperor was almost conned into becoming during the Siege of Terra, I wouldn't be surprised if they angled into this more into 40k at some point to try and mix up the larger threat of Chaos and how it might be something that Abbadon is trying to play off against depending on how it helps him in his path towards Terra.

The real proof in the pudding would be models though, GW wouldn't miss the chance to add these new daemons as a models wave to the Daemons codex or something.

Minor Gods would be interesting.

Just more generic warp gribblies would be fine with me. Stuff that isn't obviously aligned with any god.

Vashtorr won't ascend for another 10 years when the model is "old" and a new mega Vashtorr can be released.

I can see GW making Vashtorr into a 40K Chaos God of machines. He's already said to be almost there in power and influence. They could easily say that perhaps the current model is now a "Prince of Machines" in his likeness; release a Greater Machine" version and have Vashtorr himself step back into the shadows to guide things (since an actual Chaos God on the battlefield would basically win every fight without question).

The horned rat was always affectively a Chaos god but yeah when AoS hit the big 4 officially but begrudgingly let him into the pantheon (whatever that entails m)

Slaanesh was in a food coma/trapped between worlds. The balance of power in Age of Sigmar is in a weird place as it relates to the Great Game. I'm sure the only one who has any appreciation whatsoever for a new player is Tzeentch, since it provides him more chances to plot and scheme and gives him one more entity to work to undermine. Y'know, for fun.

Morathi ascended with no change to her model.

For Vashtorr? Background wise it just goes from Him to an avatar of Him.

I'll bet that had more to do with getting rid of her 'swap this model for that model' rules than anything else.

Morathi was bigger already and didn't have any other models in the faction that were bigger than her.

True, but we've generally seen that Chaos Gods are WAY more powerful than individual mortal gods.

Plus in the grand scheme of things Morathi is also a weaker god - her number of worshippers is few compared to many of the others and she's got a few oddities going on (eg she still has a split body)

But yes Morathi snakeform is already pretty much as big as you can go with a model.

Vashtorr is the same size as the new Daemon Prince which makes all the Greater Daemons and Belakor bigger than him.

He does not have the gains to be a god.

Joking aside, lesser players like Vashtorr are more interesting as players not as GMs.

The dark behind the eyes.

I'm usually not an advocate for new 40k factions, given that there are numerous existing ones in dire need of attention.

However, I would be willing to suspend this rule if it meant we got Space-Skaven in 40k.
