Modiphius has taken over the Strato Minis Line of mechs, tanks and aircraft and continued development of the Hardwar miniatures game.

The acquisition includes Hardwar - a 6mm scale miniatures range and game set in the turn of the twenty-second century with fast-paced tactical rules and a hard sci-fi setting covering armour, mechs, air and seacraft in both 6mm and other scales, and Stratoyager - the game of space fighter combat.

We're planning to relaunch of the Hardwar line. The game will be released in waves, starting with a free quickstart PDF to try the game and a reprint of the core rulebook, including the previous content from the Extended Hardware and No Heroes PDFs. This will be followed by a selection of Starter Sets, aiming to get new people playing in the universe and build anticipation for the future of Hardwar.

Hardwar is a hard sci-fi setting that uses an innovative system to recreate fast-paced tactical combat between mechs, armour and air forces. It features straightforward rules allowing a mix of classic armoured warfare, with mechs, spacecraft, exotic experimental weapons, cybernetics, sentient combat swarms and ECM. In Hardwar, players can immerse themselves in a variety of roles, from starting a private security company or becoming a corporate commander delivering shareholders' demands to leading a revolutionary force, being a small-time dictator or a noble wasteland marshal charged with protecting farmsteads.

We are also developing a solo/co-op game to let you play a procedurally generated campaign with a growing armoured force, starting small and growing to be a large battalion-scale game if you like.

We'll be gradually re-releasing starter sets and other models so it's coming back

Interesting! I haven't actually read through Hardwar or Full Spectrum Dominance yet, but how do you see both sitting in your publishing? For all I know they're very different games and/or acquisition and licensing arrangements are different, but (IMHO) it's really cool to have options in-house.

Yes but as this is a brand not known for being part of Modiphius I thought it should get its own thread initially for the news announcement, otherwise fans wouldn't know to look in the Modiphius thread.

Full Spectrum Dominance we're helping publish the retail edition of the rulebook and will be selling the STL files but we don't own it, whereas Hardwar/Strato we now own and will be developing it further and creating new minis. The range is designed for physical production and with the growth in interest in 6mm sci-fi I think fans of both will use models from both lines in their games.

I backed the UKS kickstarter with a lot of them in it

It still tickles me.

@Modiphius - Is it still based on the Horizon Wars ruleset, or is it a new thing?

Ooh, gotcha. Very cool. I'm very likely to mix and match, there are some great designs in both.

Hardwar looks very interesting. I like the look of the minis.

There's always more room for another 6mm scifi game IMO.

Id been looking at Strato Minis for awhile as an alternative for Steel Rift so this news is great for me. Modiphius does tend to have better distribution.

There's a lot of familiar mechanics but a lot of divergence as well - we'll republish the book with a couple of pdf's content too and a new cover, then start reviewing the rules and content to see what we can add to it.

Yes I've been a big fan of 6mm sci-fi for a long time and you can be sure we'll be planning a lot of great stuff :-)
