My Secundus set arrived today, and I’ve been flicking through the gang composition rules.

I’m only going to play this thing solo, so wysiwyg is not so important. For the Orrus I was going to whomp up one with bolt launchers and fists, and the other with claws and Volkite.

Pondering the free leader skill though, for the bolt launcher guy is it better to go for fast shot first to ramp up to maximum rounds down range, but with negatives to hit, or for gunfighter to remove the negatives first?

2 activations with twinned sidearm bolters using fast shot just sounds like fun

So come up with 2 list variants. One has the Orrus and 6 Teks all of which are well tooled up with all of the upgrade kit. The second has a bare bones Orrus and 9 guys with lasguns and lumens only. I think the second team should be dubbed the Blue Peter gang, due to the extent of handicrafts that will be needed to supply themselves with decent kit

Orrus shooting is a nice perk, but my theory is that if it isn't maximizing the Paired attacks, something has gone wrong. Now I wonder if you can do a 'stealth' build where you try to minimize casualties and the Malstrain only get their reinforcements and not recycles...

Also, with the ridiculous amount of kills an Orrus gets, after like game two or three, you have maxxed out the Power Boosts and you are just working on Augmentations. Really wish something got Versatile, but I can see why they didn't want to do that.

I'd pick Hip Shooting out of the shooting skills first since that still gives you mobility.

Bull charge with Fists is pretty good. Getting an extra 3"+ during combat is nice considering that the Orrus is doing a lot of work to clear things out. Also being able to one-shot a Malstrain if it is pinned against the wall is nice.

If you are taking Photo-Lumens you might want to seriously consider Augurspex(es) otherwise the Malstrain are on top of you so fast that you don't really have time to shoot. Especially when they are getting 10+ reinforcements from recycled kills and serious injuries.

One of the lists that has been doing alright has two Teknomats in carapace that eventually got two sub-carbines and a power knife. They probably don't want to take a Genestealer on their own, but they are good for clearing out walls of Scum.

Played an opening solo game tonight. I’m probably going easy on myself a bit, but good grief the Orrus eats mooks alive with the paired fists. Two charges a turn is brutal, and the D2 just makes it rain SI dice.

I’m recycling the d20 cards from Blackstone Fortress and using that to set a response tone for each malstrain type.
