I was reading a 40k book and the chapter used was Crimson Fists. But the emblem was a red fist and they used deep greens in the armor and higher ranks had the polished gold. IF memory serves... which is why I doubt I'm correct.

The book is "Rynn's World" was about a giant waaagh! Moving into the space marines world. Thanks for the throwback.

Crimson Fists are dark blue with red accents (notably the fist). The Rynns world stuff is a lovely throwback to some of the earliest fluff, and indeed the single battle mission included in Rogue Trader the battle at the farm.

I do sometimes feel like the Crimson Fists got the short end of the stick, after being the cover art for the seminal version of the game, they have been unfairly relegated into a lowly subordinate chapter, with Ultramarines taking their place on the colour wheel

Yeah I got into it last year and I've had the book as long as I can remember. I want to say around dawn of war 2?? And when the leviathan came out and I was reading the factions I was kind of sad. But like you said the the ultramarine now have the nice colors. So they got my vote.
