BFG scenarios guide points more than one might expect if they are familiar with mostly pitched battle gaming. Quite a large portion of them are also asymmetric or staggered into waves.

But yeah, the system is not meant for huge forces without some houseruling. Small games of 500-1000 points can be over quickly, 1000-2000 take few hours and above that is pushing into megabattle territory that will take all day. Most of the casual "let's go pew pew in space" games happen in the 1500-2000 range, so that's a solid baseline.

Yeah, scenarios are a great way to have some variety. And the average size will be between 500-1500 points.

If it come to the fleet engagement type of games it'll be 1000 - 1500.

Adepticon ran 1300 this year.
