Hi people,

Getting using more often OPR grimdark future and I was wondering what kind of objective is the most popular, simple "capture the flags" style a la bolt action or using cards a la 7th edition 40k?

And are the full rules worth the dollars (although it's extremely cheap)?

40k: Necrons/Imperial Guard/ Space marines
Bolt Action: Germany/ USA
Project Z.

I detest turn-by-turn objective cards, they turn a contest of skill into an autobattler between two AIs that use our human hands to resolve their dumb random moves.

But definitely pay for a month on Patreon, you get the full rules through Wargame Vault, where they update automatically even if you're no longer paying.

I also hate random objectives, removes skill and any sense of narrative and makes planning way more short term. I am planning to use some of the missions from 3e 40k to spice things up, just had to do a bit of work labelling units for the force org and deciding what stats to give bunkers and the like.

I didn't find the full rules added much of interest for me but they are very cheap.

Part if why I'm asking was that when I saw that integrated into 40K, I thought just that, makes the whole affair a question of who's draw's the best.

But as OPR are much more aggressive and fast paced rules I've found, I wondered how it turned out but so far two out of two answers pokt at "terrible" lol.

I'll pay the extra bucks I guess, 5 dollars for as vitap eternam updates bumy itself sound good

It's no great trouble to give the cards a go as well, if you have access to a printer. Wyloch who does battle reports with OPR uses them and seems to like them, but I much prefer having a defined, sensible objective like "Capture this bridge" or "Storm the fortifications" from the start of the battle because it's more satisfying gameplay wise and it also builds a better story. Much better than "Oh, I drew the "VP for wiping a unit in melee" card and my terminators are in charge range of your grots, free VPs!"
