I realize that I'm never going to build an entire 40k Airborne army. It's just too much.

But... I could build a Kill Team, and put a Valkyrie or crashed aircraft as part of a display board.

So, here's my idea. It needs some TLC, so any ideas will he helpful.

I thought about making a Harakoni Warhawk Kill-Team, but I despise the armor for Tempestus Scions/Aquilons - So I thought I would use the Cadian Kasrkin as a base and slap on some Aquilon Grav-Chutes and use their turret-servitor and their rules for Kill Team. (Or grab some third party grav-chutes, but they will all have the same issue).

Here's the tricky bit. The wires that come from the guns aren't going to match up. And I cant use the arms from the Aquilons, because they dont quite fit on the Kasrkin. Should I clip the wires off? Mod the lasguns to have the Box Magazine of the Aquilons? Or something else?

Is this feasible, and do you think people will let me run these guys as Tempestus Aquilons? I don't want to start a project that should cost around 120 bucks to complete and have a force I can't play with.

I’d just clip the wires off. If you have a stock of spare lasguns it might make sense to transfer across some power packs for the look, but I don’t think it’s super necessary. Plenty of other rifles in history with internal fixed or otherwise low- profile magazines.

As always, I would be extremely surprised if anyone ever objected to seeing an interesting and appropriate modelling project on the table.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I see no reason why you couldn't play Kasrkin as "counts as Aquilons". But are you aware that the modern Kasrkin models are significantly larger than the Aquilons? Kasrkins are almost Space Marine size..!

And Aquilons are a different size from Scions. That's why you can't use Tempestus Scion Heads/Arms on Tempestus Aquilons.

Aquilons and Kasrkin appear to match up.

But I'm not totally sure.

That's just the modern proportions I think, where all the models have slightly smaller heads and hands than the previous generation "lanklet" models. But Kasrkin models the same size as Aquilons? Not likely. Make sure you google for some scale comparison picts before proceeding..

Found someone who did Kasrkin head and torso on a Tempestus Aquilons legs and arms... at least that's what it looks like to me.

Essentially Kasrkin bodies and heads with Tempestus Aquilons backpacks, arms and weapons.

That's probably why I like them so much.

My dream army has always been an Air-Cav force. (Not mecha... weird huh?)

Everyone love air-cav. But until GW make flyers viable it's gonna be pure hobby projects. I have 3 Valkyries and only one build and painted. 2 other waiting for better edition.

That's why I'm building my half Kasrkin/Half Tempestus Aquilon Kill Team...

I'm on the hunt for a 3d print of the Valkyrie wreckage so I can make a fun display board based on a rescue mission. (Think Blackhawk Down)
