Playing a few games recently with my son (the first in about 10 years probably) reminded me of a project that stalled so long ago.

I have always loved the Tau mechs, but the riptide always looked so static and goofy to me in its default pose.

I remember seeing some rifle conversions oh so long ago and have always meant to do my own version.

Here it is so far. Crouching with a rifle. It’s still missing a shoulder drone armed with the secondary plasma rifles, and a head I will print from a Briareos STL I got a while back. I thought about smashing up an old land speeder for basing purposes, but it turns out there isn’t space.

Looks cool. Might want to build up the base a bit if you are worried about MFA criticism.

I’m not particularly worried. This is mostly a display piece. The aforesaid drone will stick up higher though, so that will help a bit.

I was wondering about the knee. It has a couple of small protruding gubbinz that make it look like the knee isn’t in contact with the ground. As you say though, I could add a touch of GS to the base. The rest of my Tau are based with simple static grass, so a grassy knoll would be fine. And appropriate to the pose.
