Hey folks

I was cleaning up my attic and I found this old school Screamer Killer I bought probably decades ago.
Question is, whats the hard shell blister protector they use here? Is there anywhere I can buy the blister protectors?

Thank you all

I know they used to be a thing. IIRC I got a 10 man imperial guard assault squad in one back in the day. I don’t think they were around long. Most things got moved to boxes with styrofoam.

hi!

So if I got this right, this was how GW roll out their blister before they move to the styrofoam boxes then?

Cause I saw other listings in ebay of old models also using this kind of hard plastic protector

Cause I also have the screamer killer but they came in this packaging instead

That’s my recollection, but I’m not an authority on the subject, and could not tell you when/why the change was made. At the time (RT era) I was picking up GW at a 3rd party store, and I have no clue what their distribution chain looked like.

I think by 2nd all those large clam packs were gone, but they were pretty rare to start with IIRC. They filled a gap between normal blister packs and the large boxes like RTB01 and it’s kin.

By the time I got properly started, it was the standard Card/Plastic/Foam blister packs. With anything larger going to a box packed in Polystyrene.

That would’ve been around 1993 at the latest.

Unfortunately Curse you Starmer, for making us this way I can’t see the image in question. Which is a shame, as the backing card/paper should be telling.

Any chance you can formally upload the image to Dakka?

Opera GX has a built in VPN, just sayin'

It's a Rogue Trader clamshell blister pack, late 80s era, from back when GW was transitioning from being a general FLGS to selling exclusively their own product, they hadn't quite started manufacturing their own bespoke packaging yet so almost everything was sold in blisters with a backing card. As far as buying replacements goes, clamshell blister packs are quite common, I'm not sure if you'll find an identical one but if you get in touch with some smaller mini manufacturers like Annie at Bad Squiddo and Andy from Heresy Miniatures they might be able to point you in the right direction
