Finished up Kerrigan’s Raptors for my Bubblegum Zerg.
So the Zerglings themselves were white primed, then covered completely in pastel pink Speedpaint, then went over the armor on their backs with pastel purple. Picked out the claws, teeth, and spikes with Doomfire Drab, the lightest shade of pink in the Fanatic line. Thigh spots are pastel yellow, and eyes pastel salmon, though they’re small enough you can’t really tell the difference between those two.
For the wings I took a half empty bottle of Speedpaint Medium, squirted in some pastel pink and pastel purple Speedpaint, then painted both side of the wings with it while they were still on the sprue. When it was fully dry I clipped them off and vigorously rubbed them with my fingers to wipe the paint off all the raised areas.
For the basing I tried my hand at the super glue stirred into white glue to make creep. Came out decently well, but I need a bit more practice at the technique. Brushed in a mid/light grey primer from Vallejo, then covered them with pastel blue Speedpaint so the Zerglings would stand out from it. Picked out some of the round smooth bits on the tumors with pastel green. Trimmed the overhang and cleaned up the sides of the bases, then painted that black.
In the end I think the blue bases may look a little too much like water, but I do like how the colors all work together. Doing my Roaches next.
