Image Description: i've alwasy wanted to do a Harlequin Venom piece but every pic i ever saw on the net just did NOT look like something the Eldar would use. After all the Eldar are all about grace, speed and beauty, clean lines and so on. All the pics on the net that i saw all looked more like a modded version a Dark Eldar raider, sooo, to make my venom look distinctly different and still look like something the Eldar would use i came up with this conversion. it uses 4 platforms from the Dark Eldar raider, i then cut all the balustrade looking bits off the platform. a little shaving and fitting and the platforms were where they needed to be, green stuff in the gaps to finish it off. next up was to take one of those air freshener pieces for your car and remove the curved grillwork parts and save them. step 3 was to take the long piece and use a strip of plasticard to cover the top and then glue these end to end along the front side. taking the small piece from the raider we glue it to the back edge, and then we take the air freshener pieces and glue them to the front and along the middle edge. what you now have is a platform that has carved railings along it's entire length, you also have room to allow the gunner station to also remain in place. I imagine this thing suddenly shooting out from behind a falcon and taking off at full speed with a squad of harlequins knelling down on the platform to present a smaller profile, with the gunner laying down cover fire, then this thing suddenly coming to an abrupt halt flinging the harlequins in the air, who would use that impetus to smash into the enemy lines.
of course it's a moot point now, since Games Workshop decided to give the harlequin venom to the DE, rather than have it remain as a dedicated transport for any harlequins regardless of codex. |
