A blue marble is the perfect description for this world. The world practically covered in smooth crystal clear water, comes to life only when the water meets its’ grey beaches. Nearly invisible waves create intense white surf. The land itself is very bland in color but changes in its landscape are obvious. It is home to long flat stone deserts that go on for miles. They are only occasionally broken by large pools of the clear water that has gathered after a rain or is the product of an underground well. Yet it has steep and snow capped mountains and plunging valleys with colossal waterfalls. With little to no vegetation on land the planet is filled with poisonous carbon monoxide and only about 10% of the air is oxygen. This has made the inhabitants seek refuge underground in self sustaining bio-cities and wear respirators.

The inhabitants are decedents of servants and henchmen brought to the world by an Imperial Lord Inquisitor. The planet was chosen as the head quarters because of the tranquil oceans, nutrient rich sea life and underwater plants, and large island continents. These continents later became city states as the population grew. Some became industrial, while others solely harvested the ocean to feed the planet. They were all ruled by the Lord Inquisitor. The only flaw in this planet was its strange warp presence. Occasionally hordes of beasts were spotted around cities but were quickly hunted down and burned with out discretion. They rarely ever caused any serious problems for the population.

The world was a strong thriving society at the time of the Lord Inquisitor’s death. He died eons ago of natural causes still very loyal to his cause of serving the Emperor. The inhabitants passed the death of their Lord Inquisitor down from one generation to the next generation. Slowly the story was miss told and the misinformed generations created fractions. One side believing the Lord Inquisitor died fighting off a ferocious attack from the beasts that roam the land. The other side claims he fell victim to corruption and joined the beasts only to be destroyed by rebels. In the beginning the disputes were all verbal. It slowly escalated to vandalism and mistrust of the others based on their belief. The fractions began organizing men to defend from vandalism caused by the other side. Gradually they grew and became better trained and organized. The confrontations turned violent when the youth of one fraction burned down a Cathedral of the opposing belief. This was the breaking point between the beliefs. Both sides openly took up arms against the other to secure the future of their beliefs. The truth has long parish into the seas and the planet of CrystalHydrus is locked in an endless civil war of belief.

The only positive outcome from such a hellish event is the men it produces for the regiments it sends off planet to fight in the Imperium. Both sides send men to fight. Only the best men are chosen to leave as it was written long ago that only the best from this planet were to be sent for Imperial Regiments. Both sides are loyal to the belief "only send the best" and usually send special forces and veterans. Youth all over the planet dream of one day fighting off world. They train and prove themselves in battle just so that they can join the ranks of an Imperial Regiment. This makes the "green" regiments and replacement units form CrystalHydrus a considerably more lethal force. Most often companies are taken form the regiment and paired up with an inquisitor or sent to "Unrest World" to help raise PDF moral and prevent a potential lose from happening. One such company is the 1137th CrystalHydrus “Heftig Wächter” Company.

It got its name while causing a 3 year uprising to come to grinding halt. On numerous occasions the rebels outnumbered the 1137th and made the mistake of thinking that they could overrun the company’s defense of a small strategic city. Records show that the most of the troopers’ armor was destroyed in fierce hand to hand combat. Damage was caused by an attacker or more commonly the armor was used as a weapon After these encounter with the CrystalHydrus company the rebels began calling them ‘heftig wächter.’ The 1137th had to restock most of its equipment because of the ferocity of the fighting. The commanders seeing this as an opportunity to upgrade the company decided to manufacture a unique las gun for the company. The las gun have a large external pack, similar to those of some storm troopers’ hotshots, that power the gun. With a simple unauthorized tweak the guns can fire with the same power as a hot shot. Veteran units seldom carry these because they are bulky and have been know to melt on the backs of the carrier due to its stress in combat. Veteran units have been known to carry actual hot shots instead of the modified lasgun.

The company is easily recognized from its others for its covered mouths and blacked out faces. Commanders decided it was best to “disguise” the troopers from each other in combat so the men would not try to settle old scores form battles on its home world. Only the higher ranking soldiers men do not wear face paint. This is to help lower ranking soldiers easily identify their squad leaders and commanders.

Units that have survived long enough to be called veterans have truly mastered the art of war. They still respect the orders to wear masks but rarely wear the stealth black breast plates. The weight of the armor is not worth the little protection it provides. One veteran squad leader was confronted about this by another regular trooper officer. He simply pointed to a pile of mutilated and mangled breastplates gathered off of wounded and dead troopers. Often veteran squads are composed of troopers from multiple units and squads. They keep their old units symbols on there right shoulder and add the new unit symbol to the left.

For speed and hit and run tactics the 1137th CrystalHydrus use motor bikes instead of animals. Although this comes with some disadvantages it also has many more advantages. The speed and handling of the bikes is incredible under an experience and well trained pilot. The bikes come from an industrious planet that was “conquered” by the 1137th during the planets 100th industrial revolution. The 1137th was informed of this by a Space Marine company that intercepted a vox signal “informing all that was listening a revolution was taking place on the planet.” The Space Marines were preoccupied and asked the nearby 1137th to halt this revolution thinking it was a hostile revolt against the Empire. Instead they were greeted with open arms and gifts. The note worthy gifts include incredible powerful and efficient machines like the bikes and high tech grav chutes and upgrades for the power packs. The planets governor found the whole situation rather humorous and made a deal of unlimited gifts in exchange for protection. The commanders of the 1137th agreed and construction of an out post began.

The PDF fight along side the CrystalHydrus. Like many other companies that fight along side 1137th, soldiers dissert their original unit and stow away with the 1137th. This creates a bizarre and unusual situation for the company. Instead of executing the stowaways they assign them to the company’s Penal squad, similar to Lt. Schaffers Last Chancers. This squad has been known to consist entirely of stowaways. The unit is lead by Gunnery Sgt. Rikko. The other units refer to them as Rekko’s Roughnecks. Even though they are part of a criminal unit they are still respected by the 1137th. Other note worthy units are the 8th “8 Ball” storm troopers, 501st Recon /Rapid Assault Team “Recon R.A.T.s” rough rider squadron, 1st “Blue Flame” Purgatory Storm Troopers, and Sniper Squad 7.

The 8th “8 Ball” storm troopers are a unique and deadly force of crack storm troopers. The unit was created after it was rescued from captivity on a rebellious planet. The unit was trapped behind enemy lines and captured. After they got rescued they continued to believe that their liberators where in fact their captors in disguise. The unit ended up escaping back into the battlefield so they could fight. After the battle they only talked about getting back to fighting, and often causing deadly fights with other units. With their mental instability during transit the unit was put into a coma. The units replacements are other veteran storm trooper suffering from this hysteria. Armed like all the other veteran storm trooper what sets them apart is the addiction to war. This makes them adored by many and feared by most. They love it so much that they do not use any camouflage but instead wear all white armor and are put into comma like stages in transit from one battle to the next for the protection of the crew and themselves.

The 501st Recon/Rapid Assault Team “Recon R.A.T.s” rough rider squadron is a unique unit to CrystalHydrus. Instead of regular rough riders squadrons the 1137th uses motor bikes in place of animals. They are specifically used for recon and scouting along with rapid assaults. The 501st was first adopted the use of bikes after brief confusion during an Industrial revolution. With little men to spare to make a new unit the 501st volunteered to be a test unit. The results were fantastic. The speed and agility of the bikes strikes fear in the hearts of the enemy. With little experience with these machines in the current army the squadron recruits pilots form the regular sanction of the new recruits. Often picking those who rode across the flat grey stone deserts of the home planet as scouts or messengers. These men are a rare breed even on their home planet. Fearless and always a target. They use fear, speed, and high powered weapons to get almost any job done.

The 1st “Blue Flame” Purgatory Storm Platoon is a rare and elite unit of mixed origins. The platoon was originally the 1st “First and Finest” Storm Squad. The unit was assigned to assist an lord inquisitor with his current campaign of hunting down a Chaos Daemon. The inquisitor already had a sizable Inquisitor Storm Troopers force at his disposal but insisted he needed more. After many long and hard battles against the Chaos worshipers the inquisitor sent his remaining storm troopers and the 1st on a special mission to kill the daemon. This was more of a suicide mission that would cause a distraction so the retinue and lord inquisitor could escape. The inquisitor never imagined they would succeed and left with no intention of returning. When the squads land at the drop zone they immediately get assaulted by the group of core fanatics inside the shrine. The ferocious fighting was costly to both sides. Only a hundred of the thousand of troopers that went in are alive and almost all of the fanatics had died. The storm troopers regrouped and started prepping melta and psych bombs. The daemon manifested into a hellish beast form dead bodies that littered the shrine. With only a few of the bombs prepped the storm troopers fell back into the forest around the building. That did little but slow down the creature as it perused the troopers. After all the bombs had be prepped the few remaining soldiers split up to set a trap for the daemon. One group advanced forward with the bombs and deployed them, while the second threw everything it had at the beast to slow it down even more. The plan work perfectly destroying the daemon manifest. After the beast was destroyed the men hailed the inquisitor but he was clearly not returning. The soldiers from the 1137th CrystalHydrus hailed their men on the emergency frequency assigned to them. After pick up the few storm troopers that survived realized they would never be able to fight along side of any regular soldier again. Some even had to be executed because they had be tainted by the chaos daemon. With the few squads left command decided to form a new unit, a combination of all units. The 1st “Blue Flame” Purgatory Storm Platoon was formed.
