Painting rusty ork metal

This tutorial can be used for than ork metal.

you will need: large brush, wash brush, stipple brush, boltgun metal, dwarf bronze, hawk turquoise, vermin brown, blazing orange, badab black (wash), devilin mud (wash).

note: If it is an ork character not a machine I recommend having your orks skin painted before painting the metal.

continuing from my last tutorial I have already painted the skin. I also found a old lamp that i am using to get a better picture quality.

first of all decide what areas of metal you want to be silver and what areas you want bronze. start by painting the areas you want silver boltgun metal. leaving the bronze areas black.

using a stipple brush stipple vermin brown on to the silver areas. but not so heavily that there is no silver showing.

wait till dry then lightly stipple blazing orange over the top of the brown.

lightly wash with badab black.

once badab has dried wash heavily with devilin mud.

once the devilin mud wash has dried it is time to paint your bronze areas with dwarf bronze, carefully avoiding the silver areas.

while the dwarf bronze dries mix up 1 part hawk turquoise and 1 part water and apply it to your bronze areas. this will make a oxidized copper (rusted copper) look to your bronze areas.

after that apply a quick devilin mud wash to the copper/bronze areas and there you have it! genuine rusty ork metal!

here is the finish result. again it looks better in real life
