Heroes and famous platoons of the Marines

Colonel Puller

One of the most notable troops of the Pacifius regiments is Colonel Puller who deployed in the Sabbat Worlds with Guadalcanal, who was part of 7th Marines as an officer during Fortis Binary. He went out of the trenches, mocking what the Lord Commissar’s would say like ‘Forward you dogs’ and ‘Do not fail your duties to the Emperor!’. He was in the very front, protecting the Moore Corps during the action. He was wielding a chainsword and a bolt pistol and executed one of the officers of the Boson 94th because he went AWOL and started shooting anyone, killing 2 Marines, 4 Boson and injuring three more guardsmen. When they retreated back to the lines, the General Dravere requested a meeting with the officer. He was found guilty of losing his Commissar uniform and despite his protest that he wasn’t one, he was dubbed Commissar Puller. When he returned the troopers were in dismay and thought their officer had been ‘replaced permanently’ by the Commissar but was relieved by the site of Puller in the commissar uniform. After Fortis Binary the unit went home and started participating in other campaigns. To this day Puller has done almost 85 Tours of Duty and is over 150 years of age but because of Genetic replacements he only looks 60. He suffered serious injury while battling on the Solomon Island’s facing up to a Daemon he distracted in time for the 11th Marines to arrive. On the Herodias V Space Campaign he was lit on fire by a Tau commander, which he ripped off the helmet and proceeded to burn both of them. On Fortis Binary he was wounded by a piece of shrapnel to the stomach, slicing it open and he just got it stitched up. On Armageddon he was ambushed by Ork Commandos in the Sewers of Hive Infernus, which he got his all famous thrice scar on his left cheek. He got his bandanna from the blood of an Ork Warboss Skidoo he killed while in the Hive City Infernus, wrestling the Ork and snapping its neck and then coated the blood on his sleeve, ending the Commandos presence there. He is currently deployed at home with the K Marines. He has been awarded 60 Medals including the Golden Eagle, 3 Bronze Eagles, Silver Bullet, Purple Eagle, Lord Commissar and commissar badge, Peleliu, Cape Gloucester, Guadalcanal and Okinawa badges and many more.

Sgt John Basilone

One of the most famous faces of the Marines is Sgt John Basilone or as he was known; the Hero of Guadalcanal. Basilone was cut off from supply routes at about 9:00pm at night on Guadalcanal. He had under his command 40 men, of which very few made it back. He had no supplies or re-enforcements as the Fallen as they were known, charged the defensive position, persuading the orks to attack as well, giving them a force of 4000 men. Personally leading the defence, John Basilone fought with his auto-cannon in his hands but lost all ammunition for the gun so picked up a heavy bolter instead. He told his men to guard the small set of fox-holes and ran to get ammunition, with one other that was part of his team. Personally arming the beast of a machine, he cut through all the Fallen and when losing ammunition, with a las-pistol and machete. He finally reached the ammunition tent and got nineteen boxes of .98 Heavy Bolter rounds and ran back to the position, meeting heavy resistance. He picked up nine other Marines who were lost in the jungle and returned them to the fox-holes, giving them rifles and exact words “Let’s kill a few of these bastards before we’re slaughtered eh?” and in the first hour of the next day, the platoon under Basilone picked up rifles to face the in-coming hoard, in which time Basilone de-capitated the heavy Fallen and picked up his heavy bolter, personally driving the men back, with the cheering guardsman in tow. By dawn, the tally of the Marines was sixty-to-one. Basilone then re-joined the Marines for Iwo Jima, becoming part of the Platoon Command Squad with an Autocannon that he customized himself. But John was slain also in the III War of Armageddon on the fourth wave, being cut down by a machine gun on the fire wastes while leading a whole regiment to the fox-holes created by the shelling of the artillery leading the airport. He is one of the biggest celebrated heroes of the Marines, along with the Moore Corps, the Saviour; Neve Yusuf, who killed the forces of darkness originally and controlled the planet in the name of the Emperor, A.A Vandergrift, Colonel Puller, William H Rupertus and finally R.V Burgin and some un-recognisable men for their bravery defending the planet. All in all, Sgt John Basilone was awarded the Marines Medal of Honour for doing what he did, a Dark Angel dagger that he wore to battle as he saved one of them during the fighting, Golden Eagle for his bravery to lead the charge on Armageddon which saw a break-through in their lines, Purple Eagle for dying on Armageddon, Armageddon Badge for his bravery to stand up for the Orks , Guadalcanal Badge, Iwo Jima badge, golden bullet award for how many he killed while he made both his autocannon and heavy bolter portable and suffered 3rd Degree burns all along his arms, Commissar Recommendation for Colonel, 3 Tours of Duty including Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima which he was there for nine days, just mopping up resistance and Armageddon and finally 2 Brave-heart Medals, for his actions on both fronts of Guadalcanal and Armageddon, where he lead his force through heavy machine gun fire to the airport when he went to get the second wave in which he was unlucky and got shot charging with over 900 troops in a cross fire of Shoota’s, customized mortars, battle-cannons and others.

Moore Corps

When the Marines served in the Sabbat Worlds on Fortis Binary after a month and a half, they got the order to attack as Chief Dravere though he saw an opportunity. The Marines and Boson 94th left the trenches and ran head-first into the bombardments and shelling of the chaos, taking heavy casualties. They were forced to dig in 20 meters from their trench. Then Chaos charged the Imperium. There was 10, 000 Heretics and 2000 of them were Chaos Marines. They assaulted foxholes in force, running head on into the soldiers. This is where the Moore Corps were founded. Two squads from different companies were squashed together in one big foxhole that had been dug by heavy artillery and told to hit the oncoming chaos. Nine crews deployed in the dug-outs and opened fire. They had a hit ratio of two bullets to one man. Heavy Bolter rounds ploughed through the Blood Pacts lines and the mortar fire hit and killed masses of chaos at a time. Lascannon fire broke through the specialist troops of the chaos. Only a 2500 Blood Pact soldiers reached the severely depleted Marines Regiment. In the four hours that followed, the mortar and las-cannon teams fought with rifles and threw the mortar explosives as grenades into the thick lines of the chaos. Five of the nine crews were slain during the heavy fighting. The chaos broke and ran after four hours of fighting and when re-enforcements arrived. Lord General Dravere, leader of the invasion of Fortis Binary, promoted them all to Major and christened the little corps ‘K Squadron’ which the regiment has taken the name of; K Marines Peleliu and gave all of them the Silver Bullet Medal and the bronze eagle. The men that survived were Hamm, Sledge, Snafu, Burgin, Troll (who went AWOL on the ship and was executed duly), Norris, Carmen and Gary. From then on the unit was one, even though they were two separate regiments. After the Ghosts took Fortis Binary, the regiment returned home and found that they were famous throughout the homeworld. Many recruits and veterans took part to get the best of them. Burgin snr, now leader of the small squad, picked them and by the end of it, the Corps had over 25 heavy weapons teams and 15 Infantry Platoons. Their first battle as an assembled squad was by the K Marines on the Gereon Campaign, which led to the bloody fighting and the men almost being wiped out. Only five platoons made it out, including half the original corps, now nicknamed the ‘Moore Corps’ because of the amount of the body count of the enemy every time either of them charged, and mostly the Moore Men were in the frontlines, with a huge reputation that they held up, quickly adapting to the harsh environment and the forces of Blood Pact. They then retired from the Sabbat Worlds campaign and now as part of the K Marines; the unit was then part of the 83rd Mordian after they were wiped out to 2 platoons fighting alongside the Iron Guard. After that the K Marines fought as part of the Mordian Company for six years, in which they were heavily depleted. But after a disastrous campaign, the 2 regiments were wiped out except for a few small platoons and the last Moore Corps mortar men; R.V Burgin snr, Sledgehammer, Snafu and the last bodyguard Cameron Thompson. The regiment, now with six platoon of Mordian, went back home to fight against the Blood Pact. The unit was dis-banded on 823.M41 after 40 years in the service, their last battle against a small company of traitor guardsmen who landed on the planet who the Moore Corps wiped out to a man. The Mordian have made a home there and serve as part of the K Marines.

William H Rupertus

William H Rupertus is a celebrated Company Commander, learning from the venerated Alexander Vandergrift during the end of the Sabbat Worlds when he was just 12 years old, seeing men get slaughtered. He led the Marines in the Tollovian Cluster, Armageddon, and Cadian gate. He is now deployed with his personal retinue of Armageddon Steel Legion after him and the remains of the 16th Marines on the III War for Armageddon saved the legion from extermination and sacrificed his own men to save those of the Steel Legions command squad and let them get to safety. Rupertus has now 16 Military Service badges including the Silver Bullet for taking a sniper from one of his fallen troops and shot a chaos sorcerer from two hundred miles away, who was killing swathes of his men with the evil magic and hit the sorcerer right in the heart and killed him. William H Rupertus is now in the Cadian Gate, fighting Abaddon. Along with the Marines of Pacifius Prime, he has also gotten two regiments; Armageddon’s 38th and Jiao Cadian 384th.

Robert 'Lucky' Leckie

Robert Leckie was an assault marine for Guadalcanal’s 7th Marines regiment. He is famed because of the many battles he’s gone in unscathed and a few actions that everyone else took the credit for. He first deployed in the Fall of Pacifius Prime where he and twelve others of his assault group were originally assigned as heavy machine gunners, but then ran out of ammunition sixteen days into the strike. He was named lucky because every single target that came he killed, including the famous battle of sift river, where he actually ran out of ammunition of his machine gun, discarded it and grabbed an Ork shoota and pistol, becoming mobile with his team grabbing las-rifles. He lead them to the where Puller told him to go. After four and a half months on Guadalcanal his team was re-assigned after going AWOL while on leave. He then was assigned to Cape Gloucester and again proved his worth, stopping a small chaos raiding party, killing the lot of them with the Ork Shoota he named ‘Vincent’ from then on. But he was shot by a turned guardsman half way through Cape Gloucester. He was deemed ready for action and was re-deployed on the III War for Armageddon as one of the Chimera Mounted turret mounts. He of course deployed with the forces as the Chimera pushed forward Leckie was with his squad charged with taking the Rok. He was wounded in the first 12 hours of the war while trying to get a medic for his best friend. He sat out of the war until the Marines were re-deployed at home. He now leads mop up operations with his men. He has gotten the Purple Heart twice, the bronze eagle for his actions in saving a Space Marine sergeant from a heavy bolter which he destroyed with his shoota and a shoulder pad of the Dark Angels chapter as he fought alongside none other than Belial of Death-wing. He is now a Sgt of the 19th Platoon of K Marines in which everyone calls the ‘Band of Luckiness’ where Leckie himself leads the squad, currently deployed In the Army Group 12 defending Krandor.

"Marines I see as two breeds, Rottweilers or Dobermans, because Marines come in two varieties, big and mean, or skinny and mean. They're aggressive on the attack and tenacious on defense. They've got really short hair and they always go for the throat." Commissar Yarrick on the III War for Armageddon
