Unit Photos

This is my veteran assault squad, aka the suicide kings. They're meant to drop behind enemy lines, hit something important hard with 6 plasma and two melta shots. Not much in the game can take that.

Just a general army shot. It also shows one of my Baal Predators, converted from an Anihilator.

One of my objectives.

My Death Company are in white, to better show the spattered blood they covered in (a mix of chestnut brown and red inks). I call them "the Annointed".

From left to right: That's my Powerfist Chaplain (Chaplain Lucius), my WIP Mephiston, my Flesh Tearer's Dante, and my "Counts As" Lemartes. I'll be damned if I use chaplain Scuba-mask Chandelier-swinger.

Why I Started This Army

1. Blood Angels were my first army in 40k ever. I still have my Angels of Darkness Codex around here somewhere. I sold them off a while ago, but picked them up again in 3rd edition. I didn't want to do just Blood Angels, but the Flesh Tears had a great color scheme and background.

2. The Flesh Tearers were a doomed chapter. There's something compelling about someone that struggles against their fate. Their tragedy is even worse than that of their parent chapter.

3. The story from the Armageddon campaign involving the Battle Sisters and the conscripted militia. IF you haven't read it, please do. Not all space marines are created to be shining pinnacles of humanity. Sometimes, you need some skull-cracking, blood drinking, mean mean men to get the job done, and if a few eggs get broken along the way... Well, at least those militia are with the emperor now.

Backstory

The basic idea behind the army is that the chaplain as been tasked by Carnavon (the head chaplain of the Flesh Tearers, and yes, that's his name in canon) to gather certain relics relating to Angaron's mortal existence prior to his ascension into daemon-hood. The artifacts are slowly turning them to chaos, unbeknownst to the chaplain.

They're mostly drawn from the Fourth Company, the last of the companies available to the chapter.
