First of, this is the wrong forum. You most likely want 40K Tactics(I assume you mean the Necron Monolith) and not Fantasy YMDC.
Secondly, no, I'm pretty sure there isn't thanks to the Living Metal rule.

I'd recommend just overwhelming it with static combat res. and a flank charge.
Oh.
Never mind.

Well, you can either use a Vindicare assassin with a Turbo Penetrator round, or just try and avoid the monolith. Every squad you dedicate to shooting at it is one less squad that would've had a much better chance of blowing away a couple of warriors.

I'll usually save the weapons I'd put towards killing it into killing more Necrons for phase out. Most things that can damage a Monolith are also stong enough to keep Necrons from getting their "be back" rolls. Eldar/Tau try wraithguard/emp grenades.
|
I've seen the Reaper Exarch with both weapon options and both look like things you can buy in sex shops. A weapon should not look like this, not even a Emperor's Children weapon. -Symbio Joe |

Or you could shoot it once, with a lascannon, glance it, and roll a 6... I'm still boggling over that.
|
As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I've seen one killed with a melta gun at near max range. It doesn't move fast enough to get the skimmer rule to stop the AP1 from cutting through it like a hot knife through butter. I think the marine was being cocky though...

No it doesn't. AP1 still works. AP1 are the only things that hurt it bad. Exorcist and Railheads are kings vs. Monoliths. Capt K

Yeah, defintely being cocky, because in order to get that penetrating hit, you have to roll a 6 on the pen roll, since Meltaguns are S8.

while we're at it, there's another Monotlih thing I would like to know about. living metal allows no 2nd dice for armor penetrating, but what about Tankbustabombs. they have S6 + D6x2. they don't throw another dice, they just double their first throw, so what about them?

The Necron FAQ points out Living Metal denies ANY dice bonus for penetration and equates dice doubling wtih mutliple dice.

Of course powerfists work against it. The powerfist augments the strength of the user, it doesn't add any bonus dice or bonus strrngth against the monolith in particular.
If the opposing player disagrees, I recommend demonstrating what happens when a powerfist hits a monolith (hit the monolith with your fist).

@ Bookrack: Not being cocky at all. Melta weapons can be bought in abundance in most imperial armies. But what I was really referring to was Exorcists. 3 Exorcists on the table turns Monoliths into junk. Who cares if you need 6's? With the amount of missiles that can be launched your chances are actually pretty good. Capt K

Ordnance still get the 'roll two dice and pick the highest' rule. Demolisher Cannons are quite effective Mono slayers as are Earthshakers.
