Hope this helps, Death By Monkeys.

2 Meltagun drop units with sharpshooters (MCs, Termies, Land Raiders).
3 Plasmagun drop vets (MCs, Termies, Assault Marines).
5 full IG squads with sharpshooters, GL (it's a blast with a re-roll to hit) and AC. Don't be afraid to move up and flashlight marines at short range, sharpshooter really hurts.
2 fire support squads with sharpshooters, AC.

Plenty of anti-infantry fire.

You aren't running a mech list, so let your weakness be your strength. No vehicles at all, you'll have enough range to sit on your board edge and pummel away with AC, which will wipe out hordes when concentrated; and hurts marines just fine. It'll also wipe out vehicle squadrons.

Now I left 60 points unspent, personally I'd take 2 bombs or 2 hellstrike missiles per aircraft and spend those points there.

Oh and don't forget about sticking Gaunt with the conscript platoon so it's fearless, and put it out in front of your firebase. It'll tarpit anybody. It also has 5 flamers, so people won't just land in front of your platoon with a jump pack unit and laugh at your BS2 flashlights.

Many thanks for taking a look this. This looks really solid. While it's tempting to go Heavy Bolter in fear of infantry, I think having that many Autocannons gives a lot of flexibility for what I want them to shoot at, particularly with the Autocannon's great range.

<whistles> 138 bodies worth of Guard. I'd certainly have my painting cut out for me!

I could convert up the Drop Troops as Phantine, the Line Squads as Tanith...hm...maybe the Conscripts are Verghastites.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Sorry for the mild threadomancy, but I wanted to point out that Close Order Drill seems like it would be a nice freebie here, if you went with Doctrines.

Am I correct in thinking that this list is doable with Doctrines- that the Thunderbolts won't require any special Doctrines or anything?

Let's see- Conscripts, Vets, Sharpshooters, Drop Troops, Close Order Drill. Am I missing anything?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

You can add COD without a problem.

Thunderbolts are IA only currently.

Maybe they'll change that in the new IG codex, one can hope.

I used CoD as my fifth doctrine when I punched this into Army Builder, although as I looked for ways to make playable armies as I build the army up, I changed out CoD for Light Infantry to reduce the numbers of models and increase costs at 1750 points.

What about bulking out with (allied DH list) orbital strikes? I think that's legal, isn't it?

No. Allies can't use heavy support.

Might get 5 land raiders in one army or something.

Which makes no difference to standard games and is only relevant in Tournaments where the organisers have specifically disallowed Imperial Armour units. Otherwise they require no permission and are perfectly legal and valid choices in every army you take.

To add to this, why are you taking GL's? An S7 AP2 gun fits more with a S7 AP4 Heavy 2 gun than the GL does. Furthermore, it's just 2 points more per squad, so why waste time with one of the three weapons no one should take in a Guard army (the other two being ML's and Mortars).

That's not exactly true, HBMC. I don't know about your neck of the woods, but locally (ok, and pretty much everywhere else I've played) people don't want to play against flyers and won't. While I don't want to debate the legality of IA, I'll just disagree with you on IA being perfectly legal and valid.

To answer your other question: GL benefit from sharpshooters, fit the fluff better, and those squads with AC and GL are anti-infantry/light vehicle anyway. It might be crazy, but fire enough of the little blast templates out and you do put a hurt into hordes coming at you. There are enough PG in the army to deal with most stuff you want PG for.
