I've got lots of projects to do, and I'd like to share them with you!
As I rather easy stop working on projects, I think with constant back up and C&C I will keep working on them.
I have no set date for my projects to be finished, but they should at least be finished before the summer... I hope. I'm a really slow worker and school takes up a lot of time.

First up: Here's a list of projects that is to be done, sooner or later. I will add projects and edit the list throughout the blog.
Red projects are not started,
Orange projects are in-progress and
Green projects are finished.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Time to show what's done and some things that are WIP!
You can find my army list(s) here.

Some of you may recognize my Chimera from my old "The Cadian 217th" blog...

You may notice the various spots where the armour is brown (no, not the weathered parts). I intend to repaint those with another colour, as I'm going to redo my paint scheme. The grey clothes of the Guardsmen and armour of the tanks remains, as well as the squad and rank markings (red). As for the armour, I don't know which colour I'm going to use. I'm thinking of some kind of military green or dark blue-grey colour... Any thoughts?

WIP shots of other stuff coming soon /Leaf

Why, thank you.
InfilTRAITOR, you gave me an idea, you know!
I've been following your renegade blog for a long while now, and I just feel more and more to turn my Guardsmen to Chaos... BUT! I won't! Hah!
Though, I will probably have some renegade Guardsmen in my Tzeentch army! I can imagine Psykers that has suffered Perils of the Warp (or w/e it's called), some traitor Guardsmen with renegade-ish armours, robes and spiky horns here and there... *drool*

The 217th Cadian |[UPDATE]|
MARKINGS

TYPE AND RANK MARKING
All units and vehicles have an area covered in red. Ideal spots for this area among infantry are on the left half-side of the unit on shoulder pads, helmets, and other types of easy-to-spot-armour.
The most common spots for vehicles are track guards and turret (also on the left half-side).
The red coloured armour itself has often a stripe going vertically, coloured in any of these colours: white, yellow or blue. These 3 different colour mean 3 different things:
White: This means that this unit is part of a squad of regular Guardsmen (Infantry squads, heavy weapon squads, special weapon squads...)
Yellow: This means that this unit is part of a squad in command (Platoon command squads, company command squads...)
Blue: This means that this unit is part of a squad of veteran Guardsmen (Stormtroopers, veteran squads...)

In some cases there is even a 4th colour included. Black.
If a unit has 2 black lines going along the white, yellow or blue stripe, it means that this unit is of higher rank than the other units of that type. For example:
We have 2 Command squads. Both of these squads have a yellow stripe, so it's obvious that both of these are squads in command. Though, if one of the 2 units has 2 black lines going along the yellow stripe, this means that this squad is of higher rank than the other, and is thus a Company Command squad, and the other only-yellow striped unit is a Platoon Command squad.
If you find this or my English confusing, I'll make a little example.

## This squad is a Platoon Command squad
##

#### This squad is a Company Command squad
####

Some vehicles has stripes aswell. If it doesn't have a stripe, it means that it isn't part of an infantry squad/ unit.
If it has a stripe and a 3-digit number, it means that it's belonging to the squad with the same stripe and number. Examples:
A Chimera with a yellow stripe with 2 black lines, and the numbers 103, means it's part of Company Command squad #103.
A Chimera with a blue stripe, and the numbers 008, means it's part of Veteran squad #008.

All infantry units has a 3-digit number. This number is the number of the squad. The first number should be the number of the platoon. Example:
Squad 138 is part of 1st platoon.
This number should be displayed on the right half-side of the unit (i.e. right shoulder pad).
If a unit's first number is 0, it means that this unit is not part of a platoon. Ogryns and Ratlings for example.
If the 2 first numbers is a double 0, it means that this unit is a veteran unit. Stormtroopers and Veteran squads don't belong to platoons and are the only 2 units with a double 0.
If the 2nd number is a 0 or skull (mostly skull), this indicates that this squad is a Command squad.

All vehicles has a 2-digit number, 8-digit number and a closed fist marking. These numbers indicate the vehicle's unit number and ID-number. The unit numbers can be placed anywhere on the tank, preferably on the sides of the hull or on the track guards. The ID-number is rarely seen on any other spot than on the turret.
The closed fist marking is just there to indicate that it's an armoured unit.
All Chimeras should also have the 3-digit number of the squad they are assigned to.

In most cases the army's name and number is included on the vehicle. Aswell as on the banners, of course... In some cases the Cadian Gate is also included on vehicles and on banners. 'CADIA CCXVII'

Lovely Chimera... I really like the paint job...
As to the squad markings: They make sence and will serve you well when/if you decide to expand your Cadian army

I haven't though about that... I suppose using a knife will make them look more tattered? I will give it a shot.

The 217th Cadian |[UPDATE]|

As I said earlier, I am going to go for another colour on the armour. Just finished my first Guardsman with the new military green - grey scheme!
I forgot to take a photo of a Guardsman with the old scheme, for comparison. I will take a photo of him tomorrow.

Thousand Sons|[UPDATE]|

I were at my friend's place today, and he played Chaos a while ago. He's now dedicated to Necrons. So I bought some stuff from him: a Daemon Prince, a Sorcerer and a Raptor sergeant or whatever they are called (Champions?). I've no clue at all. I disassembled all of them, to easier fix them up. File and clip off mold lines and such and strip the paint. Unfortunately, the Sorcerer's axe had fallen off, and the Raptor was separated from its base.

Haha, good one! Thanks on the Chimera!

At first I also thought that the powerfist would not match - it seemed to big. But after a while I got used to it. So now it seems fitting. And if you look at other powerfists carried by Guardsmen, this one isn't that much oversized. It's almost about the size of the powerfist that the Commissar with the book has.

Oh and by the way... I said I would take a photo of a Guardsman with the old colour scheme... That's not happening as he's the only one with the old scheme and I've already started painting him in the new scheme...

Been really busy with school and sports. But here's the next update!
Thousand Sons|[UPDATE]|

I've stripped the paint on the Daemon Prince, and here's my method to do it.
Some people use real paint stripping liquids and acetone free nail remover. I've tried to find both here in Sweden - without results. So me and my dad found out that "T-red" will do the job almost as well as the other liquids. In english this is called "methylated spirit(s)".
I don't know the company that made this methylated spirit, but I'm pretty sure any will do the work properly. Always (!) have a plastic test model or bit, too see if it melts or not. That's what will happen if it contains... uuh plastic-melting liquids.

IMPORTANT NOTE Always do this in a place near a sink. You will need to wash off the colour and methylated spirit sploshes that will appear on your surroundings as soon as possible. You don't want black dots everywhere on your desk or table (or what other bad place you can think of...).
You might also want to use one-time-use gloves if you have sensitive hands or if you just want to stay a little cleaner...

Here goes...
Step 1. Disassemble the model you want stripped.
Step 2. Pour the methylated spirit in a glass or bowl you don't mind getting dirty. Put the parts in the glass or the bowl.

Step 3. Wait for about 5-10 minutes. The longer you wait, the easier the paint will come off.
Step 4. Using an old, stiff brush or an old tooth brush, "brush" the whole piece or model. You will notice the paint fall off. Don't worry if paint won't fall off, just use a knife or toothpick to get it off later. Mind the plastic!

Step 5. Leave the pieces to dry on an old towel or something similar. I used my really old dressing gown.

Step 6. You're finished! Feel free to to whatever you want!

Ok, so I have not updated for a long while now. Been busy with school and sports, as usual. Also, this weekend me and my team went to the southern Sweden to play in an ultimate frisbee tournament. "Monsterslaget" in Mönsterås, near Kalmar. We ended up 3rd, and I'm very happy with our final position in the tournament, as this was the first tournament for me and the other people born '95 in my team in the junior series (U20). We have people born in '95 and '92 in the team, and the '92s have been in the junior series a while.

And today we played the school-district championships (or what to call it) in ultimate frisbee. We ended up 1st!
So there has not been a lot of wargaming. BUT!
I've started re-painting the Chimera. It has its brown armour plating re-painted in Catachan Green, and what's left is repainting the grey and re-doing the weathering. This time I will add sand and/ or snow to give it a more realstic look. I've decided to make it a forest/ urban- themed army fighting in snowy regions. Hence the green armour (forest) and grey clothes (city + dirty snow).

Soon back for more /Leaf

Good news! I have decided to spend the whole day to Warhammer! Though, I can't start until after my floorball game at 12.30. BUT! I promise that I will not play the computer at all, I'm only going to use it for updates on the blog!
Hopefully I will get the Chimera done and get some Heavy weapon squads painted.

Wish me luck! /Leaf

Thanks. Unfortunately, the game was cancelled. Instead me and my mum went to the local mall and bought some new stuff (yay ). I got two new pairs of shoes: outdoors and indoors, two new sweaters and a new pair of trousers/pants. It's almost impossible for me to get lots of stuff at this time of the year. Lucky me.

I just finished undercoating the Daemon Prince and a Heavy weapons team. The three other teams yet need more conversion work and modelling. Also done some painting on the Chimera. Just needs some more small details painted, such as bags, weapons and markings etc, to start doing the weathering!

Taking a shower and then gonna go back to painting again /Leaf

First of all I cut the Cadian Command squad flag arm at the end of the sleeve, leaving the flag with only a hand left.
I can't remember what arms I used, but I'm pretty certain that I used arms from the Heavy Weapons team sprue (left arm) and probably a regular Lasgun arm (right arm). The lower (right) hand is also one cut off from an arm... It can be any hand that is meant to grab something. You can cut off the hand of the grenade tossing arm and make the grenade flat, using a knife. It's as simple as that!

The 217th Cadian |[UPDATE]|

Finally got back to painting! Still on stage 1. of painting the Chimera. Stage 2. is to weather it. It is still very much WIP, so don't worry if it looks crappy.

Those are very promising beginnings on that Chimera, but your weathering process is amazing, I'm sure it would make anything look good. Could you maybe get some stage-by-stage photos of the weathering as you do it?

Oh, thanks!
Good idea on stage-by-stage photos! I will certainly do it, just for you!

The 217th Cadian |[UPDATE]|

Just finished painting the Chimera to the stage where I start weathering.
For some reason, my camera doesn't like my models. It's like it makes things look uglier than they actually are IRL. It might as well be the lighting. Oh well. I'm fixing a new photo station ASAP.

I need your help! Have you got a good tip to use as snow for the weathering? It's meant that the Chimera (and all other infantry, of course) has been fighting in a snowy city and on the muddy, snowy woodland outskirts of the city. Something cheap that you can get pretty much everywhere or maybe some household powder-ish thing? I dunno... Please help!

Oh, look at how clean it is! Too *bad* it won't be as clean in a couple of days +/- hours!

Yesterday night I went through Dakka and zeh Interwebz for snow tutorials. I finally found a solution today. It's basically just to glue the baking soda on the base. I tried mixing the baking soda with water and PVA, but I didn't like the result.

Yes, that's what I also have read. But some people say that if you apply a thing layer of wash / watered down paint with a little PVA will prevent it from yellowing. I don't know if that is correct or not. But I'm still going to try it out. Maybe Ice Blue will make it look better:

The problem is that there are no nearby hobby shops that sell those stuff and my parents refuse to buy stuff off of the Internet... They are afraid their cards will get hacked, even though I trust the website to 110%... Luckily enough, I've got my wish through twice: when I wanted an old copy of Half Life and when I wanted to move my character in WoW (I don't play anymore) from one server to another.
If I get those darn fine-looking Pig Iron heads (that I want for X-mas ) I will get overjoyed.

I guess with baking soda, you could always paint it if it yellows. I seem to remember seeing a baking soda method on GW's website at one point, so it seems to be the consensus on snow.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
