Hi all,
The following is an account of the Sons of Pus at the Mechanicon
GT 2010.
Another tournament, another 5-0. Yep, that's right. Five fun games with five fun opponents. I went to play a few games, hang out with some friends, meet new people, and see painted armies (many well done), and use my new mobile display base. All in all it turned out to be a fantastic weekend.
I took a chaos space marine army. The theme was based on some Space Wolves from the thirteenth company whom turned to Nurgle. I finally finished the army and couldn't wait to take it to a tournament.

Not the most competitive list, but not a creampuff. Just to put everything in perspective. I played seven games from Friday through Sunday which almost doubled the number games I played this year
Round One:
Sons of Pus vs. Chance (opponent's name, not that I fought luck) and his Tyranids.
I seldom win against Tyranids. They are the Northwestern Wildcats to my Iowa Hawkeyes.
Chance's Bugs
Tyranid prime x2
two units of ten termagaunts
two beefy tervigon
two units of three Hive Guard
one unit of three Zoanthropes
one Trygon Prime
two Trygon
Okay, that is A LOT of big, multi wound models. The mission happened to be victory points, units which are killed are worth double. Great! All his models worth any points were all at least toughness five and six wounds. This was not going to go well for the Sons of Pus.
Chance set up his army first (the above picture). I set up everything on the right to face the Trygon Prime and not face two Trygon. That was last time anything went right (with the exception of make several Feel no Pain rolls).
The game went pretty much as can be expected. My main ranged weapon with toughness greater than seven is a power fist

. He took out the Land raider and vindicator early and ate his way through most of my army. The lads did mange to kill the Trygon Prime and I didn't let him have all the plague marines for bio-mass.
I think he got a 16 or 18 point victory and I got to play someone else who lost in the first round
