Hi all,

The following is an account of the Sons of Pus at the Mechanicon GT 2010.

Another tournament, another 5-0. Yep, that's right. Five fun games with five fun opponents. I went to play a few games, hang out with some friends, meet new people, and see painted armies (many well done), and use my new mobile display base. All in all it turned out to be a fantastic weekend.

I took a chaos space marine army. The theme was based on some Space Wolves from the thirteenth company whom turned to Nurgle. I finally finished the army and couldn't wait to take it to a tournament.

The Sons of Pus army list:

HQ - Demon Prince Mikal
Daemon Prince w/ Mark of Nurgle, Wings

HQ - Chaos Lord Magesar Kusma
Chaos Lord w/ Mark of Nurgle, Lightning Claw Pair

TP - Plague Pack Jarri
Plague Champion – Thursir Jarri w/ Power Fist
Plague Marine (x5) w/ Personal Icon, Meltagun

TP - Plague Pack Resef
Plague Champion Alardi Resef w/ Power Fist
Plague Marine (x6) w/ Personal Icon, Meltagun, Plasmagun
Rhino w/ Extra Armor

TP - Plague Pack Asag
Plague Champion Galle Asag w/ Power Fist
Plague Marine (x6) w/ Personal Icon, Meltagun, Plasmagun
Rhino w/ Extra Armor

TP – Berzerker Claw Pack Kreft
Skull Champion Dimme Kreft w/ Power Weapon
Khorne Berzerker (x7) w/ Personal Icon
Rhino w/ Extra Armor

TP - The Kukuth
Summoned Lesser Daemon (x7)

HS - Obliterator Harsk Faber
Obliterator

HS - Chaos Land Raider Meslinger
Chaos Land Raider w/ Extra Armor

HS - Chaos Vindicator Verk
Chaos Vindicator w/ Dozer Blade, Daemonic Possession

Not the most competitive list, but not a creampuff. Just to put everything in perspective. I played seven games from Friday through Sunday which almost doubled the number games I played this year

Round One:

Sons of Pus vs. Chance (opponent's name, not that I fought luck) and his Tyranids.
I seldom win against Tyranids. They are the Northwestern Wildcats to my Iowa Hawkeyes.

Chance's Bugs
Tyranid prime x2
two units of ten termagaunts
two beefy tervigon
two units of three Hive Guard
one unit of three Zoanthropes
one Trygon Prime
two Trygon

Okay, that is A LOT of big, multi wound models. The mission happened to be victory points, units which are killed are worth double. Great! All his models worth any points were all at least toughness five and six wounds. This was not going to go well for the Sons of Pus.

Chance set up his army first (the above picture). I set up everything on the right to face the Trygon Prime and not face two Trygon. That was last time anything went right (with the exception of make several Feel no Pain rolls).

The game went pretty much as can be expected. My main ranged weapon with toughness greater than seven is a power fist . He took out the Land raider and vindicator early and ate his way through most of my army. The lads did mange to kill the Trygon Prime and I didn't let him have all the plague marines for bio-mass.

I think he got a 16 or 18 point victory and I got to play someone else who lost in the first round

I'm confused was that a win or a loss, at the top it says 5-0
... ntm the extreme lack of detail in saying what happened has me lost ... 5+ turns and you managed to kill a Prime ... wth

Looks like the Monstrous Creatures just ate lunch and moved on from there...but that's just me.

I think he might be saying, that win or loss, he had 5 games against great folks and fun games, so was a win no matter what. At least thats my guess.

Space Wolves - 3000+

Dwarves - 3000+

What was the point value of these armies?

You call that a Tyranid Swarm?!?

Tournament armies look so small these days...

Hi all

Let me clarify a few things ...

I actually did manage to kill a few things, but mostly put multiple wounds on several big bugs. Chance killed off many units and the mission rewarded completely killing units (double victory point)s. Unholy Martyr has it with Monstrous creatures eating lunch and moving on.
If my opponent earned a victory that means I lost

Threewolves is picking up what I'm putting down. I just wanted to give an example of my mindset entering the event. I didn't come with thoughts of winning the whole thing with my tactical prowess. I wanted the opportunity to have fun games. My battle record will be revealled as the thread continues

Point value for the event was 1,850.
I don't call it a swarm. I call it a heavily barbed anal probe

One other thing. This happened a couple of weeks ago so my recollection may not be exact, but should give a good feel / idea of what happened during each game.
on to ...

Round Two:

Sons of Pus vs Joshua's Tyranid Sneaky Bastards Swarm (my name for them not his)

Sneaky Bastards
Tyrant with two guard
Lictor x3
Zoanthrope x3 w/ mycetic spore
Doom of Milwaukee w/ mycetic spore
2 x genestealer brood x 14
2 x genestealer brood x 11
termagaunt x11

this was the complete opposite tyranid from my first round opponent. The mission was capture and control with table quarter deployment or as Joshua calls it, "the mission this army was made for". His army looked really nice with very well done snow bases. He used baking soda, glue, water and bit of white paint. Anyway onto the game.

Joshua went first and kept his entire army in reserve. I moved a couple of rhinos towards his objective just to keep him from sending everything on from the board edge closest to my objective. It was a very, very quick first turn.

Second turn saw all but the doom of milwaukee hit the board. Joshua had one unit enter near his objective, three units of genestealers entered on my side. Tyrant walked on and shot the berzerkers out of their rhino. The lictors entered near the berzerker rhino, but didn't do much. I shot a bunch of genestealers causing one unit to flee, killed the lictors with charging berzerkers, didn't kill enough with the vindi, assualt zoanthropes but don't kill them, see what he has defending his objective and turn a unit of plague marines around to go and fight the tide of genestealers entering on my board edge.

Third turn the doom of milwaukee drops in. genestealers assault my plague marines whom were defending my objective. genestealers assault unit attacking zoanthropes. My turn sees many thoiusands of years of chaos experience die to the Doom. Holy cow that does guy lay a big hurt. I eventually kill the bastard with a an obliterator in close combat a couple of turns later. Combat near my objective bogs down with neither of us doing much damage.

From this point a huge scrum develops near my objective and the game goes seven turns allowing Joshua to win the war of attrition. He gets a big victory and I get the loss. This was a game that if things had ended after turn 5 it would have been a draw, after turn 6 Joshua would have had a minor victory. All in all a very fun and bloody game.

Lol. I think I can see the direction where your record is heading towards. Great attitude, and damn what everyone else says is competitive or not. It's your fluffy list, so have a good time with it.
