Alien Dungeon is pleased to officially announce Fanticide! This exciting new 28mm Fantasy Skirmish Game features warbands battling across the twisted landscapes of the plane Nowhere.

The game rules have been written by Rick Priestley, Alessio Cavatore, Andy Chambers, and Ernest Baker.

Starting next week, we will be previewing the models, rules, setting, and more. This game is sure to provide something for everyone so please check it out! The game will have four (4) complete Warbands with full miniature ranges at launch. I think I just sold all my skirmish games for this

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

How can it be 30-40 models per side and still a skirmish scale game?

Any chance I could get a signed rulebook? (Kinda serious)
Or is there any way that I could purchase one that is signed?

Skirmish scale means one figure per individual soldier.

40K is technically a skirmish game.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

We are proud to be working with Eureka Miniatures on this, and they have done a bang up job of well executed, easy and fast to paint models anyone can get a good result with. No, they aren’t plastic or resin but durable, heavy, cleanly cast metal! (Ok, a few of the BIG models have resin components, but they are very finely cast).

Sounds interesting, and like others have said it has a 'super group' design team.

30-40 minis is OK I think for a skirmish, although on the upper limit of that.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I wanted to address a few points:

30-40 Models & Skirmish - While 30-40 models may be a "standard" sized game, the rules allow you to play lots of different size games easily. We will be showcasing a few other warbands in the rulebook using other companies' models (Warlord, Otherworld, etc.) that are of differing sizes. You will see that you can play anything you like!

Miniatures - Individual tastes will always vary on what kinds of models people like. One great thing about this rules set(as well as the eventual tournament play and more) is that you can use anything you want to play the game! With the Warband Creation rules in the book, take whatever models you like and want to paint and craft a warband for the battlefield! That being said, you have only seen 3 brief pics of models so far, and when you see some of the other stuff coming out and the paint jobs on them, please be open minded and give it a chance for the official warbands as well!

Campaign system - We are planning a campaign system that will allow for warband advancement similar to Mordheim or Necromunda where the warband gains advances and other benefits.

The energy level on the rules and gameplay from all involved is amazing right now. I think when you get a chance to play the game you will see why!

I like the sound of creating my own warband with the models that I like thats why I like Songs of blades and heroes... and I'm totally open minded to any new minis, wish I could say I was impressed with the monkeys but sadly I was not... maybe next ones are better IMO.

OH, big question does the game scales down well for 15mm? or is it just not doable?

This looks just like "A Song of Blades and Heroes".

The following questions assume that the designers are aware of that design and the similarity between the two.

Jeff, if people are using the rather good ASoBaH ruleset, what makes this game so good that we as consumers should use these instead?

What advantages do players have with this ruleset?
Can I use this in hex? Multiple scales?

How does the complexity of this compare to ASoBaH?

I have never played A Song of Blades and Heroes, so I am not sure. This particular rule set can be used in different scales. The rules are written for 28mm, but work well in 15mm and other scales.
One of the big factors with Fanticide is the Card based initiative system. This allows for very dynamic gameplay. It also incorporates an Event deck that has cards added to the initiative deck for events to take place each turn. The magic system allows for manipulation of the deck through Time magic and others that can provide many tactically challenging scenarios.
Additionally, the game will be fully supported with an entire model range, tournament play, web downloads, and more. We have full distribution and support from a number of partners to provide extensive sales and customer support for the game as well.
We will be providing many different previews over the coming weeks to highlight different areas of the rules so that everyone can see exactly what we have to offer!

What kind of art style and background are you going with for this?

I'm a huge fan of late 80's fighting fantasy/ lone wolf style gamebooks and D&D artwork and that sort of 80's fantasy artwork and downright bizarre dark fantasy world settings.. have been waiting for a game that brings some of that back.

Several, you'd just have to buy a American game

Not a fan of the current model pics, but I'll wait until things are actually released to judge fully.

That is definitely an influence! We are very pleased to say that we have Tony Ackland as one of our artists on the rulebook. For those who are not familiar with that name, Mr. Ackland did a lot of the early Rogue Trader artwork and Slaves to Darkness drawings! So we definitely have a classic styling and great direction for what we want to do with the game!

The models shown are all from different manufacturers, I spotted a few Reaper ones in there. I dont think there in any way "official" Fanticide models.

Very interested in this, particularly the blurb about building any kind of warband you want.

Even if I don't play this game, I'm getting it for the artwork, dead serious.
Do you have any plans on getting Ian Miller to do any of the artwork? I think he'd be perfect for the sound of this game. For my own miniature game, I'm considering hiring him to do artwork. He's probably one of my favorite artists.

Kind Regards,
Vladsimpaler
