Interesting new ks up for east asian wargames

Modular too. Although everything is pre painted

Interestingly enough they do have some form of delivery timetable, the more money they get, the longer later backers will have to wait (although certain points will give them enough cash for more lasers and reduce wait)

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1093338811/east-asian-village-for-28mm-gamers?ref=category

(sadly yes shipping gets expensive outside us at higher levels, as usual )

The goal of this project is to kick start our "East Asian Village" effort. Sure, these models buildings look good, but they are also highly functional. Built for 28mm gamers, these are modular units - so you can pull them apart and reassemble them into different buildings. You can remove the roof to see inside the upper floor, remove the upper floor to see the ground floor. We're aware that a village is a lot more than just buildings - so we're gradually creating a strong line of accessories - anything you might find in a typical village.

I am extremely excited about this. Everything looks awesome!

PS: What range are those minis from?

PPS: This is a Kickstarter and not an Indiegogo? Better yoink some funds from Kensei tout de suite.

If you're not aware, the creators for this kickstarter were also behind a medieval village one that just finished a few months ago.

Terrain is an areas lots of players have trouble with so it is great to see good sets like this coming on the market.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Wow, pretty nice looking stuff. Two thoughts:

A) I wish it weren't pre-painted (especially if it made it slightly cheaper).

B) I hope they do a Spanish colonial and/or Pirate Shanty-town at some point.

It's now past 150% funding. I guess there was a market for Asian miniature products after all...

I'm right on the cusp of backing this one, but the postage keeps scaring me off. Maybe if the exchange rate gets better for me...

Aye, bit of a shame shipping hits these terrain KS hard

Still, quite a lot of growth today. Over twice its funding (though now people are going to soon have to wait for Sept/Oct)

I would love to back them. After buying a few laser cut wood products from other manufacturers, I can say I love the concept. But prepainted is completely out of the question. Actually, prepainted to that standard is out of the question. You can see the wood colour in almost all the details.

How hard would it be to paint over it?

Also, do they plan to release any unpainted versions, because that seems like it would help generate sales.

There's not a lot of competition in that dept. Also due to design, ti fits really well with laser cut MDF. I dont particularly care for how the laser cut stone looks for things like midieval cottages, but it looks great for these.

Most of these buildings look way to crude for a asian feel.
The Pagoda is rather nice - but also quite expensive, especially considered the work needed to get the roofing looking decent.

I will continue to buy my Japanese houses from John Jenkins, Village Green, Hovels and Oshiro (http://www.oshiromodelterrain.co.uk/catalogue28.html)

Kinda rough looking, but I could see using them alongside a few other ranges to change the scale up, much like in real life.

second on the link. I'm getting in on a few of these Kensi figs to add to some other Oriental fantasy stuff and I need a couple buildings to start out with.

Hmm bit surprised there has been no updates yet

Especially since there arent any prestated Stretches beyond how long your shipping will be

Edit

International people can now save $30!

GOOD NEWS INTERNATIONAL BACKERS! YOU JUST SAVED $30 ON SHIPPING!

INTERNATIONAL BACKERS PLEASE NOTE:...I made a typo mistake on the international shipping for the basic village. I typed in $60 when in fact it should of been $30 extra for international shipping. I had to post a new reward level for the Basic Village to correct the shipping charges for international backers. Kickstarter doesn't let us change a reward level when there is a pledge, only cancel it out.

Stretch Goal time!

Thanks to everyone who pledged to our project so far! You guys are completely awesome - we nailed our goal within just hours and doubled it in the first day.

That means that we can finally move to a larger workshop and have the space we need to run this business more effectively.

As a "Thank-you" for that, were adding our new "Dragon Dojo" model as a *FREE* bonus to everyone who bought the "Magnificent Village" - and making a limited number of them available at the bargain price of just $40. Once those are gone, the price will be $60 - this is quite a deal - the building is 12" long and 9" deep and 6" tall.

It comes with a couple of weapon racks - complete with half a dozen sharp, spikey things (courtesy of our friends at BlackHat). Here is a shot of the interior:

The entrance has a sign overhead with a couple of dragons and the words "Dragon Dojo" in Japanese. (Steve wonders whether a "Dragon Dojo" is a place where dragons go to practice their martial arts skills...)

Now we need to look to the next goal...we're close enough to $30,000 that we can taste it...and that's somewhere near the magic number that buys us our second lasersaur laser cutter and lets get your rewards out quicker.

So - if we reach $30,000, then every pledge of at least $40 will get a *FREE* Hwacha! (I love that word! 100 arrows hurled at the enemy with black powder explosives on the end just sounds like "HWACHA!!!"):

At $35,000 we'll also unlock a smaller temple model and several variations of "peasant cottages" at various price points.

At $40,000 we'll add a couple of new color combinations - this will allow you to choose one of several color schemes for the Ronin house, Temple and Pagoda. This requires us to stock a lot more parts - so it's not a simple thing for us to offer - but it will allow you to customize your village to better fit your personal tastes. At this level, we'll also unlock the "Tori" - and I'm sure we'll have some fun with "Rampaging Tori" and so forth.

If it looks like we'll surpass these levels, then we will announce further stretch goals in due course. As always, we'd like to hear your suggestions for what you'd like us to make...if you make a suggestion that works, there is a good chance that we'll make it.

Spoiler:

Just looked at the Oshiro website. They offer unpainted as well as painted.

Can't be that hard...

I asked the creator of the project, and I got confirmation that there will be no unpainted. Supposedly it would play havoc with having to stock extra pieces.

However they will be offering alternate colours, which means they are going the route of extra stock and complexity. So...
