I haven't seen a lot of warmachine painting and modeling blogs on here. And I just bought a 35 point warmachine army added it onto the Khador two player starter set. So I will be posting up pictures of my process and methods of assembling my Khador army.

I will be back to trying to keep this up to date.

Nafarious, I'd recommend a black wash on those silver metallics - they're a bit bright at the moment, and the wash will add some depth.

@Dysartes I have been thinking about doing that. I am in total build mode right now, but once I switch over to painting I will make sure to do the washes and highlights again.

God I feel like my camera makes these look horrible but here are 6 of the bases I finished for my winterguard.

my plan is to have these bases, and then slowly move from this trench outside look, to half outside, half cobbled streets, and then full cobbled streets. This way once I create my display board I will be able to have the Khador fighting their way into a Cygnar/Menoth not sure yet, city.

I never got into warmachine, too much invested in warhammer, but these are looking good. The esthetics of the game also never appealed to me, except for khador, so I'll keep an eye on your thread to see if it is enough to pull me in.

@theophony I haven't been painting much, totally into building and playing lately. But I am trying to get more together and bring this thread back to life. I know what you mean as far as the aesthetics, I chose Khador because they are mother russia and I love them but I am not sure if I am a fan of their play style really. Still some great models and I'm still learning the game.

Ok so guys I just ordered a conquest woo can't wait to work on this guy. When I get home this weekend I am going to start work on my Display board for my khador.

So I like to build stuff, base things, and tie my armies together. I have made display boards for both of my warhammer armies and would like to get to work on one for my Khador. Right now I am thinking trenches on my Winterguard infantry, or something like them storming past trenches, and then my Man-O-War to be half on cobble streets or tile, with the warjacks and warcasters to be on streets and street corners. The idea is like the Khador army slowly making its way into a city, whether I will do a unafiliated city, Menoth, or Cygnar city is still undecided.

What do you guys think so far of this idea? How can I make it better.

Greeting everyone, I hope you are enjoying this as I plan on updating a ton more (basically every weekend unless I paint some at college.) I figured out the best way to use my camera half way through. Lesser picture quality but they won't demolish the screen so hopefully it works out better. Big update today, since I am at home and some time before work. Got this big guy in the mail and I must say it is quite the intimidating piece. Can't wait to get to work on him.

Time for the pre-assembly/painting process

Step One: Clean dat bish

Step Two: Clean the entire model and arrange it by pieces in their correct corresponding positions

That is all for today on the Conquest now to move onto the display board for my Khador.

Just starting out on this but my goal is quite clear in my mind and you will see it come together a bit more and more. Right now we are doing a 2x2ish board of insulation foam. The first thing I did was cut out a piece of it to create a trench. Then I spent the next couple of minutes before work and a few after gluing down the sticks to create the base of the trench.

There we have the start of it. Before I had to go to work this was what I had accomplished. This is the underside of the board so you can't really see the effects of the trench (I need to work on them some more to make it not look as cut out.)

So we have all the popsickle sticks laid out and glued down. I think it is coming together pretty well for the early stages. I am thinking about turning that thing on the left into a sort of tunnel that insinuates that there are some more underground trenches going on there but we will see how my creativity plays out. The next goal is to add sand, spray paint it (you shouldn't spray paint insulation foam btw, but I am doing it to create this sort of rough ground feel.), And then paint it up.

The future of this board will be to add a city gate, and the first half of a block of a city. The plan is to create the effect that the Khador are taking over this city (Idk yet if it will be just a city, or a Cygnar city, or maybe Menoth.) We will see.

If any of you guys have some links to sights that have city gates up for sale I am looking to buy some. I know of a sight with the molds incase I need to cast them but that is a lot of unnecessary work if I could just buy one. So please let me know if you having anything.

Still working on looking for pieces to add to the display board, but other than that I got the entire Conquest primed so I can work on painting it piece by piece when I don't have class.

I am also in the midsts of deciding which Hirst art mold to purchase for the base of Mr. Conquest as I am going from trenches to breaking the city wall to the streets to match my display board.

I got to work on the conquest today, painting in my dorm while there were like 4-5 other people in there. Here are some progress pics. We will start with the base, it is the corner of the street I think on that curb I am going to put a lamp post or some other scenery for the conquest to be crushing under his feet. I had to stop last night to go to bed, and then got a little bit more done today before lunch and then my 1 oclock class. So here we go...

So there is the base and you will see what I mean by the curb there. I will be sure to tie it in more with the display board and some of the hirst arts products I will be getting but for now that is it.

There we have the two shin guards one has another piece and a bit more color to it because of that. They both look pretty nice now that they are finished, but holy rivets batman.

Here we have the leg painted, with the shin guard pad thing dry fitted onto it, I guess it holds on pretty well. I think it looks pretty good but I am not sure if I want to paint every... single.... damn.... rivet.... it just seems like way too much, I have seen some where they paint all of them and some others where they didn't and I can't decide which I like more.

Looking good,

Maybe clean up the excess on the feet before painting it though?

As for painting each rivet, it looks great if done with precision but I've noticed in real riveted structures the iron rivets are painted over with the same paint as everything else to prevent rusting. Can't wait to see more!

Thanks for the feedback, I know what you mean. I was looking at those damn feet as I painted them thinking how did I miss cleaning these? It irked me so I did clean them up and repainted them

Big update today with a lot of pictures. I went a bit crazy at the christmas village section of Michael's and have a lot to show for it. I also got my shipment of Circle Orboros today as they are my new project and I putting Khador to the shelf for a while.

Lets start with my desk earlier

And then the christmas village things that I collected, I got some awesome fence posts it's about 1 and a half feet of them which is going to be great for my trench project. I also go some pre lighted lamp posts but I don't think I will be using the lighting for them at all (I am not sure how to.) And lastly I got a clock tower to be crushed under my conquests foot.

I also found two 3' by 1 1/2' sheets of brick and cobblestone that I will be using in place of plasticard for the bases of my khador and my circle armies respectively.

They were about 17$ after all the sales and I feel like it is definitely going to work out with them.
Lastly I found a nifty bag full of 21 trees that will go along well with my snowy khador and they were also 17$ in various sizes.

Also a little bit of post inception there for you as you can see this post being typed out in that picture on my work desk laptop.

If anyone is interested I can post a picture of my full desk and computer set up for you guys to see just let me know. Or if you want more details or pictures on anything.

So I am pretty excited to keep working on things

@Dave I know what you mean. Depressingly the clock tower came snapped in half, I will have to melt it, and then glue it because super glue is pretty flamable :(

@Vik it is a suprisingly cheaper hobby than warhammer 40k was, I still work on them but my armies are all painted and everything now, in some of the pictures you can see one of my battle suits that still hasn't been glued back onto his base. Right now I am into full swing with warmahordes and I am loving it.

Its due to the historical fact that Dakka started as a GW focused forums. and as of yet PP has not quite reached GW levels of player pop.

@ Dave yea that village stuff is pretty nice, I think it would do quite well for my projects. And the price is pretty nice on their solos and casters but sometimes they can get pretty up there. Also the game is fantastically competitive.

@Vik you need your daily dose though D:

@Galorn Yea I get that, but there are still a lot of other things going on here, and not that many PP threads it makes me kind of sad, even on their own forums they are few and far between.

I placed my big order for my Circle army today woo hoo!

But I am still at college all week so most of my updates unless it is pictures from the tournament tomorrow will be on the weekends. I don't like to work on stuff and then hold it and release it slowly I feel like I am holding out on you guys.

I am ok at grasping the concept of synergy, and building lists that work well together. However I am not too good at playing and executing the lists properly. So today I paid 5$ to enter a small tourney at my FLGS and got my ass handed to me. But it is ok, I learned a bit from it, and one of my friends won and so I don't mind lining his pockets a bit more.

This helped to cheer me up some though.

You've got a list figured out, or did you just get a chunk of minis?

Damn it you are right! I completely forgot to add her back into the order. I had taken her out because the blood trackers were out of stock but they came back it :( oh well I guess I can support my FLGS. And I will be running pkaya tier 3 at 35pts and ekaya tier 4 at 50 points, and have a solid list of models to learn the faction with and can build up to the Krueger, and the Morvana Autumnblade, and Kromac.

As some nice fella wants me to paint his mierce minis from his kick starter, but wants to see what my quality it. But that means that Khador and Circle are getting pushed to the shelf for a bit while I make sure to spend the highest amount of time and skill on this gentleman's minis.

So I got my shipment in, but first off here is a picture of my work space, it is pretty damn cluttered right now as I am putting all this stuff together and am only here on the weekends to use it sadly :(

Next a picture of the shipment I got in for my birthday that is a lot of models.

And lastly I have the bases I am working on. I am not sure if it is underground crypt or overgrown city but it has green water!

So there you guys go, I got to work on the 2p battlebox but my 10/0 brush frayed and so now I am in need of 2-3 new ones, as they are the most prominent brush that I use. So for now it is just basecoats on my army, but I did discover that I can use blue tack to stick them to their bases while I work on them :O it was an amazing idea.
