as i mentioned in a tactics thread im fighting a tau army, and im looking for some ways to slow down some of the new toys. having looked at tau and begun construction of a tau force, im aware of the defensive nature to counter assault armies, so i am going 100% shooting. to balance against the jump ability of the tau i plan to use alot of teleporting and bouncing around. i also need to direct counter crisis suits and a riptide, plus broadside teams.

so with that in mind... here is my list.

Overlord, Staff of light, res orb, phase shifter
Overlord, staff of light, phase shifter,

Court A:
lancetek
lord, res orb, weave
lord, resorb, weave
lord resorb,

Court B
veiltek
lancetek
lancetek
cryptek

Troops
10 immortals w/ tesla (both overlords, a lancetek, and veiltek join)
19 warriors, ghost ark (resorb lord, and lancetek joins)
5 immortals, tesla (resorb lord, lancetek joins)

ELITES
5 deathmarks (cryptek, resorb lord join)
stalker, hev gauss cannon
stalker, hev gauss cannon

HEAVY SUPPORT
annihlation barge
annihlation barge
canoptek spider, fab claw

total = 1997

the warriors get a lancetek and res orb lord.a ghost ark for support, and the spider supports the ark. this combo secures the middle and advances on the core line of firewarriors. i expect them to draw ALOT of fire, hence the points spent on repairs and durability. but this is sort of a "red herring" for the tau. a big bullseye to fight so they can ignore my other more critical units.

the big immortal unit has both overlords, a lance tek and a veil tek. this is my primary strike unit. i plan to send them after HQ crisis teams, broadside teams, and whatever else i deem that needs a good thrashing. only AP 3, but a TON of shots at str 5, should make most 3-6 man units just go away.

the smaller immortal unit also has a resorb and lancetek. less mobile, but will aid the warriors in close fire support against things like crisis teams and so on.

deathmarks are going to mark the riptide. with a staff of light cryptek, and a resorb lord (with a staff) that gives me 6 shots that bypass his armor and wound on 2+, plus the deathmak weapons. once the riptide goes down, they can go after anything else around that needs a good shooting.

the stalkers provide anti riptide fire, and otherwise go after hammerheads or broadsides. annihlation barges help out with dealing with the firewarriors, and anything else.

the only thing i expect to give me a smidge of concern are the hammerheads if any show up. i do have a good amount of anti tank fire in the stalkers and lances...but anything i can do to help boost my antitank, without loosing on the suit killing is good. any tips on streamlining things and making the list stronger please chime in.

Thinking about the ranges of various weapons, I suggest you put the lanceteks in the GA. This would allow concentration of fire plus probably would be more effective.

Re the deathmarks, from the looks of it you are walking? Maybe swap them for heavy destroyers?

In addition to the above, what's the logic for not having a despairtek with shroud? That would seem to be a key weapon against FW behind an ADL.

With your overlords, I suggest you swap one shifter for SW, to give you the 2+ save, you can always LOS to the other. Also, maybe consider the flamer - again for the ignores cover effect.
