Automated Space Wolves Thrall

So I noticed there's like no black people. I mean I read the whole story and looked at pictures that went along with warhammer, and so far I have yet to see a black guy.
So I was wondering if it's just grim dark stuff, like there's only white people now?
I'm bringing this up because I want to paint one space marine black just because he looks like a black guy.
I also wanna stay canon with my guys though, so would it be in bad taste to paint a guy black?

Funny, I've always pictured the 41st millennia as quite egalitarian....it its distribution of misery and consistency of stratification. Logic dictates that the various phenotypic expressions of mankind are going to be distributed in the far future as well.
Except for Space Wolves who we all know are horrid racists.

I appreciate that you may actually be new here, but you have a grand total of four posts to your name and you are asking a question that is obviously going to elicit a lot of responses. First off, your guy can be black if you want, it's not taboo to have a black person. If you're concerned with staying canon, then surely you've heard of the Salamanders, etc? So no, it's not in bad taste, maybe mildly stereotyping to have the black guy has the heavy weapons dude, but not bad taste. You should also know that there is a very large thread discussing this already in the 40k background.
Again, you might actually be genuinely interested in this as a question, but with your low post count combined with a potentially trolls-y comment, I'm concerned you might be here to flame drama for amusement. Apologies if that's not the case

You see a few black guys here and there.
There are a few dark skinned figures in the Imperial Guard codex. The Salamanders chapter is primarily black. Although that's mainly due to environmental factors playing merry hob with their geneseed.
As far as black characters in novels go, there is a commissar in one of the Gaunt's Ghosts novels who is black. And if I recall correctly there is a black Sister of Battle in either Fire and Faith or Hammer and Anvil.
That's all I can think of at the moment though.
As far as your models go though, you can paint them how ever you want. So go nuts!

GW has been pretty anglocentric (and a sausage fest) in the past, but that's probably just a result of being started and run by white english nerds, not deliberate -ism.
You can paint your space barbies whatever colour you like.

Aren't space marines white because of the gene seed? They get darker when exposed to variations in environmental radiation?

Ah thank you, that clears things up.
I've heard the real reason is that GW felt they didn't possess the skills to sculpt non Caucasian features without risking offending people by over stereotyping. Despite the fact they can sculpt replicas of the LOTR actors.
But, as has already been said. You're free to paint your models however you wish

Nope. Though there are some gene seeds that have a mutation that alters the skin pigmentation, iirc.
Supposedly Raven Guard gene seed turns the marine pale, and Salamander gene seed turns the marine coal black with red eyes.

Actually, researchers have proven that genetically, humanity started in Africa. So the local environment playing merry hob with genetic code was actually every other place on earth. Us palefaces are the genetic mutations. So you can quit grinning.
