I want to try out deathstorm formation for my Tyranids so I create this fun list.
Tyranids - leviathan detachment
HQ
Hive tyrant
Wing+flying ace, 2 x brain leech.

Ork - Ork codex detachment

War boss in megabot with twinlink weapon ( shoota or rokka I have no idea?) and 5 Nobz

30 Ork Boyz with Nob + 6 big shoota Boyz
30 Ork Boyz with Nob + 6 big shoota Boyz
( I thought 3 big shoota per Boyz mob? my guess they spilt them up but put together in deployment phase? Don't have Ork codex with me )
ELITE
9 Burna Boyz ( I guess?)
Pre-deployment
I roll for flying ace and got +1 wound for Flyrant and got psychic scream and Catalyst. Warlord trait got +1 to reserve roll.
Ork player got warlord trait but don't show me what it is. In whole game either he forgot about it or he don't want it?
Roll off- Ork won and Ork won again for go first.
Tall grass everywhere for cover save.
Deployment phase
Ork place war boss and Nobz in ruins in his deployment zone, Boyz on both right side and left side of the ruin where war boss in.
I place beast of phodia and Phodian Hive Warrior with Venomthrope for Shrouded at middle of my deployment. And I place children of Cryptus behide tall grass 12" away from left side Boyz mob, Genestealer at far right side hidden behide tall grass.. Flyrant gliding near Venomthrope.
Ork turn 1
They don't move at all, just shoot with their big shoota. First target is my beast of phodia - lot of hits and to wound ( wow lucky throw... ) and I use cover save + stealth + Shrounder instead of armour save and a bit objects from my opponent.. He said I can't combine those and can't use cover save, I show him rulebook and my codex.. My opponent show a body language- look like "your are WAAC" but never mind that and I let it go. All save but only one wound.
Right Side Boyz use big shoota shot at my Flyrant and few hit and single saved wound.
Tyranids turn 1
Children of Cryptus and genestealer move closer to Boyz at both side and still stay inside tallgrass, both fail to charge at either Boyz but my opponent don't do overwatch.. Maybe he forgot? I had been paused and wait for him just in case it remind him.. But nope he forgot. Flyrant jump and go in flying mode and shoot at Burna - wipe them out.
Beast of phodia shoot blast at Boyz and miss but scattered toward to Warboss instead - thank to re-roll prefer enemy and out of line of sight.. Wound Warboss Heh.
Phodian Hive warrior venom cannon kill few Boyz. Venomthrope move forward behide warrior.
I roll for "it did not die" and pass.
Ork Turn 2
All of his unit do not move at all! ( Erm That's not Ork tactic...) Boyz shoot at my Children of Cryptus in tall grass.. All hit and few fail to wound! ( Erm is Dice God with him?) so I roll for cover save + stealth + Shrounder = 2+ cover save.. All saved but one dead genestealer. My opponent is calling for club leader and challenging me that I cheated... Club leader come and sort him out... I show him my codex and special rule to made sure I don't cheated... Club leader double check and he tell me it is overpowered but not sure if it is legit.. But rule is rule and call it is legit for now until otherwise... Game continues with Club leader stand and keep his eye close on me...
Other Boyz big shoota shoot at my Flyrant, he roll for normal BS but I told club leader that he did not roll for snap shot.. He told my opponent to re-roll and snap shot only... He try switch target but no no, too late. Have to aim at my Flyrant. Few lucky 6 and wound one on my Flyrant so my flying ace +1 is gone. ( my opponent are so piss off that my Flyrant have too many wound..)
Tyranids Turn 2
One of Mucolid spore deep strike near right side of Boyz mob on right side.. To cover for my Genestealer in tall grass on right side. Flyrant shoot at Nobz with flamer, kill 2 and wound one. I move both Children of Cryptus and Genestealer closer to Boyz at both side. Beast of phodia shoot and scattered toward to Warboss from left side Boyz again! Kill one Nobz and wound to Warboss.. Both Children of Cryptus on left side and genestealer on right side charge Boyz mob on both side.. Both fail to charge again! Poor dice roll...
Venom cannon kill few on right side Boyz mob.
Ork Turn 3
Still don't move at all... Still stand and shoot. Left side kill two Children of Cryptus genestealer... Again thank to Stealth + Shrounder cover save from many saves wound.. Other Boyz spend over killed at my Mucolid spore and boom! Kill 3 Boyz.
Tyranids Turn 3
Other Mucolid spore deep strike next to Warboss and Nobz.
I move my Flyrant and vector strike on Warboss but score 1 on my dice... Bah.
Beast of phodia finally hit left side Boyz and kill handful of Boyz! More than 18 Boyz I think so... Boyz pass pin test. Bah. Venom kill few more Boyz.. Children Of Cryptus finally succeeded charged at left side Boyz and kill another handful of Boyz and they flee out of table board. Genestealer on right side finally success charge and club leader remind my opponent to overwatch and kill 1.. I just kill at least 5 Boyz.. Boyz return and kill all 4 genestealer.
Ork turn 4
Warboss and Nobz finally move! Try to kill my children of Cryptus and fail, thank to cover save again. Left side Boyz move farther left and miss at Flyrant due to snap shot.. Warboss charge at my children of Cryptus and crush 3 genestealer.. I kill most of his Nobz but leave one more Nobz.
Tyranids turn 4
My Flyrant go glide mode after move and turn around to shoot at Nobz and Warboss - fail to wound and he save all wound too. My Flyrant then go hammer of wreaths on Warboss and fail to wound... children of Cryptus pile in and kill whole unit. Advance into ruin.
Beast of phodia, venomthrope and hive warrior run toward at Rightside Boyz...
Ork turn 5
His last Boyz mob over kill my venomthrope and stand.
Tyranids turn 5
Flyrant jump over ruin and shoot at Boyz and he save all wound! Damn another lucky save throw.. My hive warrior charge into Boyz... Wow... That warrior was good build! Kill whole Boyz in one go.
Tyranids tabled Ork.
I know I forgot to use psychics phase in turn 1 and 2.. But in turn 3 I drop it because I don't want to be WAAC..
I need to double check about stealth and Shrounder combined is legit or not? And how it work out? Just in case so my club leader can read this battle report.

Stealth and Shrouded do work together so in 5+ cover you get +2 on shrouded and +1 on stealth giving you a 2+ cover save. Like you played. Remember only your Children of Cryptus had both Stealth and Shrouded, the normal Genestealer brood dont have Shrouded because they aren't a part of the Formation (unless they are in range of the Venomthrope then they would have Shrouded).
Also remember that Flying Monstrous Creatures can't assault the turn they change from swooping to gliding.
But yes the Orks really should have charged the Genestealers at least to be able to take them out.

Sounds as if the ork player is a new player. He really didn't know the rules, which is why he gave you a hard time. He also didn't really have good tactics.
Stealth + Shroud stacks, so your combo is legit.

No he don't look like new player unless he brought hoards of Ork in 3 GW carry case from eBay.. Well painted made my tyranids look shame... He even have load of deffdread and grotdread.. Battle tank and 4 loota battle tank... Enough Ork for greentide..
But to my thought of him.... He just read all page in new Ork codex And he always took my rulebook for made sure and read some of my rulebook special rule include over watch and snap shot...
Maybe he is 5th edition player and do not play for 6/7th edition? He should have told me he want play 5th edition if that was true.
Thank for tell me about cover save + Stealth + shrouded combined.
Oops I did charge my flyrant right after swooping into glider... But it did not wound Ork like there nothing happen. Phew. What about turn 180• and shoot? For my future battle!! And is stealth + shrouded on open area give you 4+ cover safe and go to ground 3+ cover save? So I can show this battle report to my new opponents just in case! Hah.

Flying Monstrous Creatures can't turn 180 Deg in 1 turn, they can only Turn 90 Deg per turn, Unless they are Gliding then they are just Jump Mostrous Creatures, Unless I'm missing something about Fighter Aces, But from what I can tell it just gives you whatever you roll on the table. In this case +1 wound.

Once swooping flying monster creature stop move at 12" away and switch to gliding, it cannot turn around. Got it. For next tyranids battle. Lucky it don't shoot to kill. And 2" away from warboss when it stop movement.
And Genestealer on rightside do not have shrouded, and that was why it stay out of line of sight. Abit too far for charge! 12" away so I need double 6 which never turn up! Hah.

When you swap from Swooping to Gliding it is done before any movement happens, So as of that turn the MC can move 12" in any direction just as a normal Jump MC would, But you cannot charge, can shoot as normal still.

orks get 1 heavy weapon per 10 models in the unit, so couldn't have 6 big shootas in an unit of 30, max would have been 3.
