Hi there.

With Silver Tower around the corner I realised that with the Tzeentch models I could muster warbands not only for Khorne, Nurgle if I got to building stuff and then Tzeentch, but all FOUR gods with a bit of work and a few additional small purchases. Crazy! Crazy enough to do it.

They're supposed to be small, because I'm more interested to use them for the upcoming Path to Glory in the summer book, and I'm not THAT crazy after all. That means min unit sizes are ignored in favour of several different troop types per list (but I'll only play my brother and maybe some cousins, so nobody will argue). Summoning is a no go. Too powerful models are out, can't have them eat the other band in a single turn.

Each warband is supposed to be somewhat themed in itself and consist of mostly human-sized infantry, heroes (not Lords, in old WHFB terms) and a slightly larger beatstick or two.

Now, besides a few small games we haven't played Aos so far and balancing four lists without am applicable comp system while keeping them small and made up of basically what I have laying around or can pluck from my brothers Khorne/Nurgle army...help, please The AoS app keeps clearing my selected warscrolls, so bear with me if I use the older names.

My ideas so far:

Khorne: Khorne's disciples, aiming to impress their lord with their fighting prowress, skill and honour over mindless berserking, though barbarian in appearance. So I went with mostly unarmoured dudes and a big beast, because I l'm planning to have the shaggiest Khorgorath around and it should look glorious.

-Exalted Deathbringer with Spear of something*
-Bloodstoker
-10 Barbarians with banner
-Khorgorath

Now, these guys can be expanded easily and enormously. All the AoS starter units/heroes at least once, Gors, knights, marauder horsemen, blocks of Chaos Warriors, bloodletters etc. I'd like the low armour feel, though.

Nurgle: Things from the moor. Carrion bird(men), bloated warriors of the jolly grandfather, some rotted swamp corpses, etc. More a tidal wave of necrotic flesh than a competent fighting force equiped for war.

They're the ones who give me the most trouble. I feel they might lack a nice punch despite having the numbers on everyone.

-Rotbringer sorceror*
-Fighty hero: Lord of Plagues *or Gutrot*, who might be overkill instead of the needed "punch"
-3 Blight Kings (all the bodies I have left, I could make sculpt more, but I like the few armoured giants among lesser followers feel)
-10/15 zombies
- 5 furies (I'm converting a squad for the "Carrion Crow" Warp Talon in my Nurgle Kill Team, lots of weird, rotten carrion birdmen; HAVE to stay in, but maybe as a different unit type)
-Chaos Troll*?

So, the troll would be my idea for a bit of ooomph in the list. Would be "swampy" if I convert/sculpt it for this. I'm picturing a mix of rotting elk, the swamp things from the Albion campaign and a river troll. I'd have to bitz buy the troll or do it completly in putty, would be a bit of a hassle, but easily doable. Or something scarier than a troll? I mean the zombies might look scary but are totally worthless and furies don't seem all that hard hitting, either. Unless I use Gutrot. I really want that model and not neccessarily want to convert it into a Nurgle Marine, but using his rules seem reaaally heavy in such small conflicts. I have warriors for them as well

Tzeentch

Well, guess what, the Silver Tower stuff makes up tgis band, at least until I start converting warriors for my "The 99 Ravens" warband that might grow out of this. The warscrolls for ST seem a bit strong (summoner, that beastly ogre) or annoying to keep track of the different weapon stats, so I might not use them at all.

-Chaos sorceror lord
- Ogre Firebelly (seems a good fit for bashy stick ogre mage thing without being super strong)
-5 (Tzaan)Gors
-5 Cultists/Barbarians
-5 Pink Horrors

More Horrors? Some warriors*?

Slaanesh: Oh boy, freaky.

Okay, I didn't want this at first, had no idea what to do, but had a somewhat cool idea and remembered my old Diaz-nettes, so I want to make the quartett complete.

-Exalted Hero of Chaos*
- 5 Warriors of Chaos*
-5 Gors/Ungors
-5 Daemonettes
-Chaos Spawn

So. I've always loved the champion model and there's been this great conversion of him into a Slaanesh champ (by Anthony Reynolds, maybe? Can't remember it right now), so a tribute would be cool. Still, needs another hero to keep up with the other bands, or more monsters. The warriors will be converted Sigmarines, the starter ones can be had cheap and should look great as a sort of giant protectors, either as huve armoured dudes with goat feet and/or animated statues, especially if I go with...a small, unarmed female*. Sorceress? Demon hero? Very cliche, but hey, those can still be fun, right. Or only one hero and more spawns*?

“*“ marks models I'll have to buy or sculpt.

Some. Those are the lists I came up with today. Input would be great. Substraction will be of course easier than addition, but as long as the overall model count stays small-ish it'ds okay. As I said, I have more for some gods. Buying stuff is not a deal breaker, either, but I don't really want to buy a 50€ box for one model if it can't be helped

Thanks for reading!

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

Well just a heads up these are very small forces, more of a showcase size than full skirmish ones. Though I do not know the path to glory rules. It is hard to offer advice since it isn't clear to me exactly what you want help with. Are your playing with any comp? Obviously you like theme and alternate models (I respect that btw) but how big are you into converting?

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

This looks cool.

The armies are a little bit smaller than the Path to Glory size, but this is still cool and looks like fun.

Path to Glory starting sizes are 4-6 units and a general.

Oh, I'm talking about the old Path to Glory rules where you'd roll a dice to see how many beastmen or warriors you get in you band. I have no kbowledge about the AoS version so far. And headcount-wise they'd be in the ballpark for that. Or other "skirmish" systems like Infinity, Malifaux or Mordheim.

I'm looking for four roughly balanced lists for fun little games and a nice way to get all four gods represented on a single shelf of my cabinet. Friendly games, not curb stomping. Quick to play, so rematches, army swapping or having the other warbands come out on the same evening is possible.

Warscrolls can be used for count-as models without problem if the rules fit the warband's theme and the Chaos equivalent would be too strong (ogre Thaumturg looks really overkill but I *have* to include that model, Firebelly rules looked appropriate) or boring (e.g. zombies for Nurgle, what better to represent bloated bogmen pushed to war by sorcery, a bit more fun than marauder rules)

It should be a small project though, because I get waaay too much into converting and sculpting whole minis and start to loose focus and start something else if I let things drag out. And as a med studentbmy free time can be...non-existant. So roughly 20-ish models per band should be the upper limit. Converting is not an issue of skill or willingness, but potentially something I might spent too much time on.*

Comping would make it easier, but I have no experience with the differect system, the GW one isn't out yet and I thought that below minimum strength units would screw that up, anyway.

If the warbands are fair as is, that'd be even better

*The Khorne champ will have to be sculpted as a Khorne Spartan, of course.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.
