So my friend has decided to start playing Fist of Medusa Strike Force from Angels of Death supplement.

This thing gives him a crazy Feel No Pain on his Chapter Master/Captain 2+ and possibly even 1+ FNP.
It also makes the vehicles gain Machine Spirit which is brutal on Vindicators.

My Dark Eldar got crushed last week fighting this ungodly thing, I tossed Soul Grinders at it to negate the FNP roll altogether but still lost the game (it was close though) but on the second game I had already picked a list with Astra Militarum allies using Cadia's Emperor's Blade formation with a LOT of flamers...and well I surrendered after turn 3, realizing I had no hope of ever killing these nigh-immortal space marines. My flamer-heavy list went up in flames....

So I went back to the drawing board and our next game day (next week) I plan on using a pure Dark Eldar list and also some Dark Eldar + Tyranid Allies list and toss MCs at these superman marines while the scheming DE sneak around and nab untis on the exterior far away from the carnage.

So I'll show you the last list I played against when I had my very dead IG slaves. And if you guys can provide some solid ideas or tactics to use this type of list that'd be awesome. My opponent has a lot of dirty tricks up his bag but i'm positive he will keep using Fist of Medusa until i find some sort of hard counter to it.

The IH Detachment could be very brutal with FnP bouns which makes Marines as tough as Necron Immortals when they are near any IC against anything not causing ID. Plus their tanks, especially those Vindicators becomes really scary with the increased mobility from PotMS.
Generally speaking, like fighting Nids, kill their IC first. If that Captain and the Techmarine is the only IC in his army, kill the Techmarine first with what ever alpha strike you can dispatch (Deepstrike Raiders, Venoms, DE flyers, Zoanthrope in Tyrannocytle, Flyrants, etc.), the Captain know as don't use language like this on Dakka. Reds8n , on the other hand is almost unkillable without multiple S10 AP2 hits or the almighty D, or if you can dish out thousands after thousands of S7+ shots, you could give atry to drown him in numbers, but still, that lone Techmarine with only a 2+ save and 5+ FnP should be much easier to kill than a moster with 2+ 3++, 2+ FnP 5+ IWND.

Ally in a few d-flamer eldar and roast them to death.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Or you can try to tie them up with things they can't reliably kill - like an invisible...anything. Play a maelstorm game - forget about killing which you can't kill. It's gona be boring but effective. That's kinda like most competitive lists are now. Boring but effective.

Try an alternative - he is binding a lot of points to that command sqaud and it likely doesn't have hit and run. If you use AM as allies, you could be a weasel and make a blob, aim for 4++ pyschic power. Bring a priest to give re-rollable saves. Also aim for getting rending. Issue a challenge every round, which will be taken by the chaptermaster. Then you have a good shot at thinning out the command squad with rending. Or at the very least lock up the chapterhamster. If he won't commence to the attack he will have a very expensive unit which only takes a few shots each shooting phase.

Now you try and tear into his remaining army.

After you guys have had a few games you could also ask for your friend to try and alter his list. If it comes to that.

With love from Denmark

Anything str 10 or with a tarpit ability will work since they lack hit and run. With Chaos MoN spawns should do the job well, a non marked ml 3 psyker should have a decent chanse of getting invis as well.

Alright!!! Fresh ideas i like that guardsman blob with defensive boosts idea pretty interesting and i could totally pull that off with my current models.

Also Chaos Spawn MoN could also work well but chapterhamster would still be able to kill them slowly wouldn't he? as well as be able to tank wounds since they'd have no character to issue challenges.

I have 2 tentative lists for next month's games when I start fielding my Blood Angels again. After having faced his new FNP heavy list I decided to go with Terminators enmasse

Take a look and tell me what you think:

that ih list makes me sick. i mean look at it. it's absolutely ridiculous that someone would bring something like this! i mean come on, the amount of wasted points is just disheartening. A knight instead of a libcon? devs with no cataphractii captain OR grav? no pods? MISSLE LAUNCHERS?!??!?! tell your friend he's off to a reasonable start but he still has a lot of work to do.

If you are bringing a BA termie assault list, throw in some inquisitors with rad gradenes and the relic that lets you scout one termie unit if you pass ld10 test. That will drop the bikes down to T4 the first round of combat. IG ministorum priests are also solid with termies giving re-roll armor/invul saves in close combat (and zealot). That should tarpit a non hit and run deathstar for weeks. Just make sure you bring multiple priests as you need to pass a ld 7 test. Or you could bring the same priests from sisters codex, they pass on 10 if nearby celestine.

Nurgle spawn are 180 points for 15 fearless wounds at T6. They tarpit stuff for ages. The ML3 biker sorc is around 170+ points so rather than risk it for invisibility just double down on the spawn! or triple!

Really Nurgle spawn are pretty obnoxious (for their points cost) and with S5 they will rip apart his tanks in close combat and they move 12" ignoring cover so shouldn't be too hard to close the gap.

The Imperial Knight will make short work of spawn though so you need a plan to deal with him.

Whats this about devs with cataphrachii terminator captain?

37,500 pts Daemon Army of the Gods

35,000 pts - X - Iron Tenth

15,000pts - Firehawks

7,000 pts - Nighthaunt

Cataphrachii armor is slow and purposeful which transfers to the whole squad if one member has it.

Yeah. If anything, this is one of the most tame Iron Hands lists I have seen in a long time.

I played a 1500 points version of this detachment with double catapractii captains in a dev squad and command squad with an apoc in the command squad with grav in both. This is NOT the most efficient way to run this and I powered down the rest of the army to compensate and the skitarii player I went up against still conceded on turn 2 and changed armies after.
