I know many people use magnets in some of their models.  Where is the best place to get appropriate ones,  specifically ones that would work for carnifexes?

There are many sources on the web- google 'rare earth magnets'.
Here is a link to just one possible source: http://www.rare-earth-magnets.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=21&KeyWords=Disc&All=True

I have ordered from Indigo.com and been pleased.

For a carnifex, the 0.25" (6.4mm) should be plenty strong.

I have tried using a magnet on one side, and a nail-head on the other.  That is simple.

Magnets on both sides gives a much strong hold, but requires care to align the poles correctly.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Me Person,

On occasion I have found them at Michaels and the larger craft stores.  The brand I got is called Rare Earth and they are small round magnets.

Also Mark at Sci Fi may know the name of a supplier as well.
