Subject: [Kickstarter] TheGreenAlliance Army - Biped Tanks concepts
Looks like there will be some free character figures for kickstarter backers, including a goblin sniper. Concept sketch looks nice, but honestly I'm sold just on the concept.
Also, a preview of one of the commando heads. Looks good, but aren't commandos more of a British thing? Americans should have rangers and marine raiders, shouldn't they?
Another small update: video showing one of the melee orcs with a pistol and a totally crazy looking cybernetic character head.
Also, a concept sketch for another character. This one seems to be a General Patton style leader with bionic limbs and some kind of attack dog. Pretty cool.
Nice looking models but at higher than GW's astronomical per model price, there's no temptation on my part. $100 for a battlewagon? Sorry, I'll pass.
Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

$100? The not-Battlewagon is $65, excluding postage. The not-Leman Russ (as in Sherman) is $40. How much is a Leman Russ at GW? $60ish?
A squad of 10 Orcs is $35, metal/resin combo. A ten man squad is at GW €23 so around $30ish. Maxmini is more expensive (around the $5 mark), true, but they look a million times better than the GW Orks, wouldn't you agree? And another advantage of Maxmini is that you can vote with your wallet against GW (as Maxmini makes way better looking Orcs than GW's, imho)

As I said, they look great but the battlewagons are $65 and then $20 for shipping; so, yes, less than $100 but as close as makes GW prices look reasonable which is more than I'm willing to spend. The value just isn't there for me and the material is more a detractor than a contributor in my opinion as I simply don't have the time to mess with resin/metal hybrids.
Best of luck to them and if they ever go hard plastic, I'll certainly consider dropping some of my hobby budget their way.

No worries. I was trying to persuade you, but I can understand your point of view. As they stated elsewhere, going all-resin is not an option because the prices will skyrocket and molds won't last as long.
Personally I like to support this small company and have lot's of stuff from them so I am prolly biased and excited about this new (US) army which I can field against my Soviet Rebel Grots.
Do the pledges in your store mean I can just bypass Kickstarter completely and come just to you? Will the heroes that come at certain levels still be included if a pledge is purchased directly from you?
Love the jet packs, especially the one with its own tiny pilot - I may steal that idea for a conversion.
But the downside of such unique concepts is that you'll need to make quite a few different designs, otherwise customers have to repeat the same few designs over and over again in their armies, which looks horrible IMHO.
Or the other option is to make each from several swappable modular parts, thus vastly increasing the number of possible combinations, but that could be difficult design-wise.

I went with buying it from them and bypassing Kickstarter. Exchange rate is a little off and for some reason I had to pay postage which brought the whole thing to about £5 over the £120. Hope I get the sneaky goblin still and maybe they will give me a few extra bullets for the £5.
Hopefully the rest of the renders won't take to long to show up and then I can choose what I want.

The last bit of solid info we got date wise was on the 18th Dec
Taking Christams and holidays into account I think that mid Feb is realistic deadline, but we'll try to speed it up.
then they checked in again on 6th Jan
Update #40 ℹ

First of all - hope you had great Christmas time! And hope you'll have a great 2015.
Just wanted to let you know that we're back after the Christmas break. While some of us (like me ) checked in between Christmas and New Year to make sure our webstore orders are getting sent (also we had some urgent request for a cool trophy / statue ), the huge part of the team has taken their days off.
From tomorrow we're back to the full strenght with the batteries recharged. So stay tuned for updates !
and from the comments (again 6th Jan)
@Andrew: by tomorrow we'll be back to full strenght.
I'm cooking up some updates. But in short - we're 99% past the sculpting part ( Smacton left and some minor tweaks to exosuit chief), so it is not an issue. The only thing that slowes us down are some of the outsourced prototypes - at this moment goblin tanks are left. Infantry is in production.

Good, good. They missed me off the mailing list when they sent out the order forms and I had to chase them so I'm a little worried that I will miss out on another important email.
Any idea why this isn't in news an rumours anymore? With plenty of miniatures still to showcase it seems a little premature to move it to misc games.
Once a KS funds the threads are moved to the appropriate sub forum too keep from clogging up N&R with either 'why isn''t this done yet' or 'my stuff has arrived' posts
(with the exception of a few where there is enough genuine news from the company to keep a merged thread)
Those are some of the shooting orcs variants that did not fit the rendered unit card. On the production front - new 3d printer is up and running and the missing models I've mentioned (goblin tanks and exosuits) are being prototyped. I have to admit I'm pretty excited to have this extra piece of hardware to aid making this happen. While as most of the 3d printers it is not plug and play solution, having the option to work on 2 machines speeds the things up. And on a side note - it was also good moment to declutter the workshop . It's always surprising to see the way the same amount of stuff takes a lot less space if organized better.

Cheers OT might have to see about uping my pledge. Hopefully when all is done they will do an update with all images in it so I don't have to flick though 10+ pages to see what everything looks like.
I bought one of the 'pledges' from their site after the KS had wrapped up.
Should I be worried that they haven't contacted me with any info at all? No request to pick my stuff etc.

Yeah contact them plastictrees I had the same issue. After offering it as a option someone appears to have forgot to add web store pledges to the mailing list.
Guys, the plan is to start sending first packages this month. For sure not all, but I'd like to get the simplest orders done .
It won't be easy - that's sure, but we're really committed to do it and one of the reasons I have spent quite a lot of time in the modeling workshop recently.
The good news the prints that were a pain are being done on our new printers now so the biggest obstacle we've encountered so far is no more. So now we print even really big models inhouse, without a need to rely on external workshops.

As far as I can tell we still haven't seen the unit card for veterans (only heads). The biped tank and gubbinz bot are still at the sketch on the back of a napkin stage of development. Whilst the Areocycle isn't even at that stage.
But its hard to tell as we still don't have one place to easily look at everything available.
Being half a year late you would think they would be pushing hard to get the project finished and out the door but still we are going weeks without updates.

To conclude;
So it's June, what's going on?
Well there has been updates on the Kickstarter page as and when the renders are finished and some really cool looking ones, yes the original date has lapsed (always thought it was over ambitious myself) but one thing I have learnt be patient with Kickstarters after all a well made product is way better than a rushed half assed miniature.

Your right there has been updates of renders as they get finished. I went though the updates last night ticking of what we had seen and that is where my list of missing units came from. I do need to add both the bikers (we've only seen the bikes) and willy crew to that. And I believe some of the little extras like bits pack and objectives. And then there are the units we have seen like the recent pyro/tankhunter update that don't show the whole unit (we have only seen 3/5 for each weapon).
Clicking backwards and forwards though updates is a pita though so I may have missed something. Its like I said we still don't have one place/page we can look at to see what is available.
I don't mind being patient but I can't comment on the KS page so I keep hoping Maxmini might respond here or at least realise that its time for an update. I never really expected them to finish in December I was just being facetious with my typo comment. It may be naive of me but I really do expect that at this late stage of the project they are making weekly progress towards completion and I would like to see updates
So yeah I lied I am being impatient but only due to lack of decent updates. But its not like I'm losing sleep over it, just mildly irritated because I want my new toys.
Lastly a quote from October 2014
"While me and Kacper are stuck in the paperwork, Kuba and Konrad are giving the remaining models some final touches"
Quietly cough into my hand whilst saying something that sound suspiciously like bollocks.
