Well, just the Sgt so far. I haven't posted anything here in awhile so I thought I would throw this out there for you fine folks to tear apart for me. This is the first time that I have done such extensive weathering on an infantry figure, so comments on that would be particularly appreciated. Ok, now to the Sgt. He still needs his power weapon and camo cloak, and after those are added he needs varnished. Everything else is done on him. I decided on a marking scheme for these guys. Left shoulder will have Chapter symbol. Right shoulder will display squad number and the type of squad that the member used to belong to (Veteran, Tactical, Assault, Devastator). Left knee will display any specialty markings. In the case of the Sgt. here, he has the Crux (Veteran) and an "I" on his Right shoulder for the 1st scout squad, and a skull on his left knee to indicate that he is a member of the Chaplain corpse. I know this is unorthodox, but I like it. On a somewhat related note, I did the decals on paper that I got from Micro Mark awhile back. It is kinda thick and I was having a helluva time getting the decals to set on the curved surface (and to keep them from sticking up from the surface of the model so much.) I picked up some Micro Sol and Micro Set while I was at the hobby shop the other day. Dear gods that is some amazing stuff! Once you get the hang of using it, you can get the decals to conform to just about any surface. Highly recommended! Just thought I would share that. Thanks, Eric

Nice painting and good job on the weathering. Im not the most expierienced painter but i think you could have done a little bit of weathering on the gun barrel and tip of the barrel. But over all better than anything i can do.

Thanks for the comments. With regards to the muzzle(s), they are weathered but the white balance in those photos is off so all the highlights are super exaggerated. Once the rest of the pieces are added and I give him a coat of Matte Varnish they will hopefully show up more true to how they are. ~Eric

Thanks Migs! The old SW Scout Sergeants were a big inspiration for these guys. The SW Scout fluff is a big inspiration for them as well. ~Eric

I've been flirting with the idea of making my own decals (in white) but I'm not clear on how to make white ones. In fact I want to do Relictor badges. Can you elaborate on the process?

Migsula: Hopefully later tonight I will have something to show. I have gotten into the construction of the next 5 members of the squad. Actually, here is a picture of the weapons that I converted for the squad: Weapons Not sure that I will use all of them now, but it was something to show while I am working on the rest of the squad. Zubbiefish: I printed my decals on clear decal paper. I put a black outline around the skull, painted the area for the decal white and then put down the decal on that. Once the decal was set I painted the area around it up to the black outline. Hope that made sense. Doing white decals on your own requires a bit of fudging like I did, some extremely careful cutting if you use white decal paper or a specialist printer that can actually print white. http://www.tangopapadecals.com/prod01.htm There is a fairly good rundown of the process at the top of this page. These folks also apparently have really good decal paper, though I have not used any of it myself. Hope this helps some. Thanks again to everyone for the interest in my thread and the comments. Cheers, Eric

Small update: Sorry for the blurry pic. It was taken in something of a hurry. This is where the next five members of the squad currently sit. I will hopefully be able to get the lower legs attached (after I have gotten another pair...) and the arms started his weekend. More when I have something interesting to show. ~Eric

Here is the current progress: Got the poses mostly done. Just some touching up to do. Didn't get as much done as I wanted this weekend due to a death in the family. I did get started on some of their arms, and got the camo cloak put onto the Sgt. As always, comments and criticism welcome. Thanks, Eric

beef: Thanks, I am glad you like it.
Clayman: Thank you! I have always though that Scout armor should be a scaled down version of powered armor, and that Terminator armor should be an up-armored version of it. Ties everything together visually that way.
The antenna is made from the Catachan Lasgun barrel.
migsula: Glad you are enjoying the build. I really admire your work, so your interest is a bit flattering. The walking pose was totally inspired by the Space Wolf scout from the codex. That guy is also going to be my shotgun user, same as the picture.
By the way, I don't suppose you ever took detailed shots of your 'Rosethorn Now' diorama, did you? I would love to see some individual shots of those figures.

Thanks, Rosethron and retinue are hiding in the safety of a box at my Granny's I need to take those pics one day. It's vierd, that project was purely for myself and I seem to have less need to share it . I've been working on "littlebit of 40kMech" that might soon make dakka premiere.

Another update. The Apothecary is nearly finished (the body, anyway.) The others still have various amounts of work to be done on them, but they are progressing fairly steadily now. Slightly crappy pics since I am in a bit of a rush. (Click for the larger picture) As always, comments and criticism welcome. Thanks, Eric

Cool idea. I like the conversion visally. Not sure how you would lift those "boots" without the assistance of the power armor, but hey, it's fantasy anyway and aesthetics are king.
