Subject: FW Newsletter184 - Reaver Titan ?

Folks, Here's the latest from Forgeworld - can the bold stuff be anything but a reference to the forthcoming and much rumoured Reaver Titan? Before anyone says it...yes, of course it could refer to anything, but my money's on the Reaver. Bold, italics and underlining added by me for emphasis. Cheers, Padre. Hello Again, Hot on the heels of Monday`s preview, I have another newsletter for you with info on what Forge World will be doing at Games day UK, and even more new stuff to show you. Meanwhile here at Forge World the preparations for the day continues at a feverish pace (a little too feverish perhaps, as last newsletter’s PDF experimental rules can attest! These have now been sorted out, sorry for any confusion). Thanks Alan Bligh <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" width="100%" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td>

Also present will be our entire studio team who have their own stand nearby and will be happy to answer questions as well as show our new models. They still make sense as long as some are. Also, I don't think there'll be a Reaver. The datafaxes are for Warhound and Warlord, and apparently FW want to wipe out the chances of the old Epicast Reaver titans making it into games, so they're not making one, and no rules either. Apparently.

Pics of this diorama have been floating on the internet and I think it is from the GW museum. Could this be what the siege of vraks display will look like? Note the Warlord Titan. http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A9gnMiU6Q.1GPREA4l.jzbkF/SIG=124pbcd2e/EXP=1190040762/**http%3A//www.sodemons.com/gwmuseum/chaostitanx.jpg http://www.sodemons.com/gwmuseum/chaosatt2.jpg

I thought that somewhere FW said they were working on a Reaver, and that it would be out somewhat soon. I think there will be one, it is the next step for them. Why not sell something that will be bought by many? Lop the ends off of some of those pads and put a runway down the center solves the Vtol problem. Maybe they have some kind of force catapult system that will launch them from the pad.... Just looks damn nice. Keeps making me want to play AI!! That Ogryn is awesome!! I want some.

I'd expect something even bigger (although likely not including Warlord Titans, I would expect to see the new Reaver). There are a few displays in the Apoc book that are grander than the Siege of the Emperor's Palace, so I'd expect the Siege of the Vraks to trump or at least match those.

Broon, I've heard rumoured on the net that the reason for not including the Reaver in the Apocalypse datasheets was that it would detract from the "saleability" of the next hideously-expensive Imperial Armour book ! Apparently, the next (or a forthcoming) IA is Adeptus Mechanicus-focused, and will have the rules for the Reaver. Personally, seems a little silly to me, as: A) It would make sense to have the rules for at least 3 of the 4 main Imperial Titans all in the same place (Apoc.). B) It'll take more than one Reaver Titan Datasheet to make me consider shelling out AU$100 + for a book. Cheers, Padre.

I think they could care less about the old Armorcast titans though.

personally for regular 40K I don't think anything should really be much bigger than the warhound. All it would take is someone to shake the table just a tad too hard and then your $2000 titan goes crashing to the floor. You could play the whole game on the floor maybe, but that wouldn't be too comfy and it would be too hard to not step on little stuff I'd rather see em do something big and orky, would make sense too what with the orks coming out next and all...

The only way I'd complain is if the Warlord looked more like the "battletech-lite" version than the (to me!) proper Warlord: the boxy, skull face monster! (No pic, sorry, but it was the metal version released sometime around the Titan Legions era... I think!)

That does not compute. The Apocalypse datasheets allow you to use Armorcast Warhounds and Revenants and Epicast Stompas willy-nilly, why would they make an exception with the goofy old Armorcast (not Epicast) Reaver which few people even own. A more likely reason for there being no Reaver datafax in the Apocalypse book was put forth at Warseer as a rumor, which is that they omitted it so sales of IAV6 would not be hurt, as apparently the Reaver is the centerpiece release in that volume.

Yeah but Forge World already does a Warhound and Revenant, so they really have to make Apocalypse rules for those models. As nobody does the Warlord, but Armorcast does the Reaver, they apaprently decided to scrap the Reaver and build a Warlord instead, which they would have exclusive rights to build, and as it hasn't been done in the past, every one in existence would be a Forge World version. Here's a quote from the guy that said this. It's the only source I have and I wouldn't call it Gospel or anything, but he did get the correct points on the Warlord on the Datafax we've seen, and this was a while (3wks) before that was posted, so maybe he knows something. "I was told a year or so back by a FW employee that GW were not impressed with players still using the Armorcast (fully licensed copy) Warhound Titan instead of buying a new Forge World model. Now it seems that GW has gone that extra step to make sure that Armorcast Reaver Titans won't make it into Apocalypse, they have decided to drop the model and go with the Warlord. At 2500 points the Warlord is as large as a lot of players armies, so expect to see a large model and a high cots in $."
